UEFA Champions League/Europa League 23/24/25 August *** Spoilers ***

Phew, defence a complete mess as usual, looked certain to go out for 2/3rds of the game but then RVP, practically the only guy left at the club who you could call an old-timer, and Theo and his roadrunner legs saved the day.

In the CL proper... NOW BUY SOME PLAYERS ARSENE FFS!

Sold Cesc for 35mil, sold Nasri for 25mil and just qualified for the Champs league for approx 25mil. Not a bad couple of weeks for Wenger and the financial bods!
Now to sign a few decent players and we'll be all good for this season!

Dont forget the money from Eboue and Clichy too....approx £90mill to spend....SPEND SPEND SPEND Wenger!!!!!!

Only saw 35mins and I thought Arsenal were well and truly in trouble, seems the footballing gods have shown mercy for you poor Arsenal fans, perhaps the club isn't in as much turmoil as people think! :p

Having said that, we're going to completely destroy you on Sunday, so come Monday the gloom will be back! ;)

Arsenal fans are fickle and rather dumb, I've firstly never said we definately weren't winning tonight, just that its a distinct possibility we wouldn't.

The team were rubbish until the goal, complete rubbish, and with a bit of luck on his side Di Natale would have scored 4 tonight, woodwork, penalty, etc, etc. The only time Arsenal looked good as a whole was after Di Natale's penalty miss, they fell apart.

Udinese aren't good, they weren't great in the first leg, they weren't great tonight, yet for 2/3rd's of both games they quite easily outplayed us and missed really chance after chance.

If Di Natale's 2-3 chances had gone in to make it 2 or 3-0 then Arsenal would be the team whose head's dropped and dissappeared from the game.

This doesn't make us a better team, it doesn't mean we can beat Utd, it doesn't somehow mean we'll do well in the league, nor win the champs league.

Its better than a kick in the teeth, by a long shot, but somehow I can't see a huge amount of positives for relying on Di Natale's luck infront of goal being completely out tonight.

Theo got a goal, big whoop, when have I said he can't finish when in the box and in behind, Udinese were chasing the game and leaving big gaps, what about all his other shots, the passing to the keeper from 25yards pathetic shots, the missing from 10 yards out where he had time to pick his spot, and hit the keeper, Gervinho was much improved in the 2nd half, yet most of the game he still insisted on hanging on to the ball too long and losing it.

One result doesn't magically change how good the team is. We've playing an actually good team next, very good, and what do you think the score will be with them if we play as crap for 55mins?

The biggest thing tonight did was hopefully make it easier to bring in some actually good players, we've had months, and have a week left, the signs aren't promising as of yet.

No, they weren't rubbish. It always felt like they would score tonight, even when we went down 1-0. We rode our luck a bit either side of half time, but we were not rubbish by any stretch of the imagination.

Please, just for once, try and be positive.

Oh look, it's DM and his positivity train. All aboard! Toot toot.

No we weren't. We were typically clumsy in defence, but we attacked well enough.

Udinese aren't good
Yes they are.

If Di Natale's 2-3 chances had gone in to make it 2 or 3-0 then Arsenal would be the team whose head's dropped and dissappeared from the game.
If we'd scored our two or three blatant chances, this would have been a drubbing. And if my aunty had balls etc etc.

This doesn't make us a better team, it doesn't mean we can beat Utd, it doesn't somehow mean we'll do well in the league, nor win the champs league.
Only one person has said we're going to win anything on the back of this result, ad I'm 99.9% sure he wasn't serious. Stop creating straw men to argue against.

Its better than a kick in the teeth, by a long shot, but somehow I can't see a huge amount of positives for relying on Di Natale's luck infront of goal being completely out tonight.
And this is exactly why people question whether you're really an Arsenal supporter. You can't even celebrate a win. I don't mean this in any way insultingly, but seriously, what's wrong with you that you need to immediately be critical and pessimistic when we've just won a game? Just relax and enjoy the feeling, for once.

[more stuff]
Bored now.

I can see DM's point and to be honest I usually see eye to eye with him regardless of the comments by others. :p

Summary of what he is trying to say: It will take more 1 game to prove that things aren't that bad but there are massive gaps in the squad. That is plain to see by everyone. It wasn't a convincing win regardless of the score and Arsenal were very lucky.

It wasn't the best Arsenal performance ever nor was it the most convincing win that you'll ever see but it was a win - let's try and look on the positive side for a second, the team is in the group stages of the Champions League and they've made it that far at least for 14 straight years. So Arsenal rode their luck tonight, that's true but again lets not lose sight of the fact that it was a win - sometimes you've just got to take them however they come.

I'm not an Arsenal fan by any stretch but I'm painfully aware that sometimes you've got to accept that your team might not win well but if they've won that should be good enough. To use another cliche you've got to keep putting yourself in the position where you can win it (this being any game) and they've done that with the performance tonight, there are doubtless improvements that could be made but going out before the group stages isn't going to make it better.

Maybe I'm just too easily pleased though, I'm a Hearts fan so if we escape with anything less than a tanking from Spurs tomorrow I'm considering it a minor victory of sorts.
