UEFA Champions League/Europa League 3/4/5 May *** Spoilers ***

Ryan will go left back :o

The barca v rm game was a joke, the ref was a 12th player for barca.

That was a foul by Ronaldo before reals first (disallowed) goal...? Oh please...

That goal should have stood, at 2-1 who knows what would have happened.

I hope you're not referring to 'him' with that...

Why is our manager's titles are earned by statute and you feel the need to make up ones to 'rival' him... might as well call Carragher 'the Admiral' or something during interviews.

Aye forgot Mr Ferguson was knighted before the King was even born.

edit: didn't fergie get one coz he was buddies with someone anyways?

Ronaldo fell, tripped a Barca player in the process, that's a free kick- it really is that simple. At best the ref could have said that Ronaldo fell because he was fouled, played advantage and the brought it back after Ronaldo fouled the Barca player.

And if you really watched the game you would know that the free was very lenient towards Real and their persistent fouling. Messi must have been brought down 7-8 times and both Carvalho and Alonso were lucky not to be sent off for fouls on Messi and Adebayor.... well was lucky not to be sent off for any number of 'challenges'.

Sammme. Really just laughable at times. What more does he have to do?

Anyway, better game, less acting from Barca. Still too many bad tackles and dirty play from Real though. Completely lost it second half and were just out to kick Barca. Shame. Don't expect anything else from a Jose team though. Bitter and bad losers.

Totaly agree with this summary. Real could or should finished the game with 2 less. Carvallo, Ade,Lass and alonso were close to 2 yellows each. what are real going to do when casillas retires? It could have easily being 2 or 3 in barcas favour.

I don't post on the footballing forum, am not a true fan and I'm pretty sure I'll get heavily criticised, but I'd definitely agree with Greenlizard0.

In MOST of the Barcelona games I've seen in the CL I get the impression that when they cannot find a way to break down a parked team they resort to horrendous diving/simulation in order to get an opposition player carded / sent off. They also rarely seem to be on the negative side of bad decisions (admittedly don't watch them all for this exact reason). The matches against Chelsea, Inter, both legs of this match and Copa del ray (and others I don't remember off hand) are the reasons I hate find myself disliking Barca and rooting for whatever team face them.

How can people say this farcical play is justified and that the "right team won" because they play prettier football when the opposition is just parking the bus, playing "anti-football" (not necessarily accusing people on this forum, but people in general.) I'd say simulation is the thing I hate most of all in football. I'd rather see a defensive game than one full of, in my view, cheats.

Sure, real were fouling (I don't think they were all cynical), but you have to remember that they have just had a goal disallowed (the fouling got a LOT worse after this) and some very questionable decisions from the previous game. Even if the goal wasn't given, to give the free kick the other way ridiculous. Also, those that care to remember back the fouls were pretty even in the prior leg.

However, saying that, Ade (and questionably others) shouldn't have been on the pitch by the end either match.

Flame on.

TLDR: Diving/simulation (and poor refereeing decisions as a result of this/in general) is hands down the worst aspect of football at the moment and ruins what could be promising games!

Is utd v Schalke on Sky Sports today?

Hopefully a good game. Schalke have nothing to lose and have a few players who can hurt utd although i think i heard yesterday that no team has ever come from 2-0 down in a European match but there is always a chance. Especially with Neuer in goal and Rooney being rested and Rooney having a big impact the last game IIRC.

This is the problem, referee's always "even it up" when the game is long since gone.

The ref was horrifically in favour of Barca till the game was over, at which point he started giving a couple things Real's way, ref's always do this, its seriously frustrating and ridiculous.

Carvalho only did one yellow card challenge, the other bad one wasn't bad, but a dive, another was Albiol fouling a guy who then ran into(while falling) him. Alonso, joke of a performance again, out of position, getting too far forward when the goal was conceded. Tried loads of cynical challenges, is a flilthy git, doesn't dive, just tries to break everyones legs. His freekicks, passing, general positioning, tackling, defending, all awful.

What idiots on here were talking up how good Marcelo has gotten and having a go at me for calling him a crap defender, shows what you guys know. My word was he awful, back to his "best", going to ground when theres no need, consistantly being lazy and reacting to runs well after they are made rather than marking properly. Pedro ran off him for the goal, the guy was jogging right infront of Marcelo who just ignored him, full speed, gets across him EASILY. Got caught out time and time again, ridiculous foul on Messi, yes, goal, so what rubbish throughout.

Real need proper fullbacks, who can defend, to drop/sell Alonso, and a manager who won't try to win games off defensive performances, with an ultra attacking squad its ridiculous.

Tame performance, hilarious Adebayor, embarassing Pedro/Mascherano/Villa/Alves/Busquets/Iniesta and Messi threw in a couple dives to top it off.

Neither, in any way shape or form deserved to be in the final, Real for simply being rubbish, Barca for being just about the worst cheats in the competition.

Barca WEREN'T bad divers years ago, every team has 1-2 players who the fans want to slap for not staying on their feet, thats life. How can you tell Barca weren't as bad 2 years ago, well Pedro, Busquets are only in their second season and Alves only one more than that, which are easily and by far their worst cheats. Pretty much since the start of Guardiola's reign though they've been embarassing, but it seems to me their football has gotten more stale over those 2 years and every time they run into a tougher game they start diving more frequently so its been MUCH worse in the past few months.

Indeed elmuzzy66.

Carvhalho could and most probably would have been sent off any other game, his challenges were late and threw himself into them. If the first foul was a yellow card his ones after were yellow, he knew this as every time he was pleading straight after. I swear after one of the fouls he is on his hands an knees bloody praying!

I don't think Messi actually dives that often if at all majority of the time, his speed/pace means when he is clipped he goes down, Marcello and that tackle by the corner flag was when Messi was running full speed. How often do you see him on his feet trying to shrug them off? Majority of the time.
For his shot Alonso came flying in absolutely no where near the ball and inside the box anyone else may have gone down there, he knocked it on and took the shot, was a reckless attempt at a block.

I don't condone diving as its embarrassing when they take it to far, but unless you make it clear as day it appears you aren't going to get anything.
Malouda penalty against UTD anyone? Stonewall penalty but didn't make anything of it and the ref and the extra official did nothing about it!

Odd thing to say considering he won't be anywhere near retirement age for at least 5 years

Not odd if anything happens to casillas, real are screwed. The amount of games he saves for real is unreal.
Nice too see abidal back in action. Kudos to the guy, they remove a tumor from his liver a couple of months ago
and back in action yeesterday. I wonder if he used the NHS:D

Madrid got what they deserved for their tactics the last 4 games.

Its easy to point the finger at Barca for diving, but everyone's so quickly forgotten how Madrid played the first two (League / Copa Del Rey) games of this block of 4..
Overly physical and dropping to ground as soon as barca player got to within breathing distance, in both those games they were lucky not to be down to 8 men to boot.

Regardless of what Sky want us to believe, i watch La Liga all the time and its 10 times more entertaining then a typical PL game .. it flows better, less stoppages and the level of skill (or simple will to actually play football?) amongst the lower teams is much higher then those found in the PL, making a much more entertaining game.
The level of diving is not worse then in the PL, not by a long shot, although derby games always bring out the worst in teams (As has El Classico since Maureen arrived).

Regarding Classico, it was always a footballing spectacle, i remember the Madrid fans clapping Ronaldinho off the pitch a few years back for a spectacular display. Since Maureen's arrived however its turned very bitter, his tactics and the attitude instilled in his players have been venomous and bitter.

Are people really surprised at how Barca acted last night?
One team went into the 4 games wanting to play football, the other dragged them down to their level.

Another year of these tactics and i guarantee a certain Portugese manager will be out of a job, Perez didn't spend all that cash to watch his team play like a group of chav's in a street brawl.

Biscuits is a terrible cheat, the amount of rolling around he does is just embarrasing.

(I know its Busquets but it sounds like biscuits)

This, however, i cannot argue with.
Di Maria, Alves, Ronaldo (on occasion ..) all need the book thrown at them lately.

Messi wins the ball from Ronaldo, Ronaldo takes a wild swipe at Messi.
And yeah .. Barca are the classless ones.

Arbeloa and Villa fighting after the game ..
Ronaldo blaming other players for Diving (lol)
And Alonso saying the spanish NT is now dead..

.. get money on Germany in the Euro's !
