How many times have Arsenal dominated a team like Barcelona did today, only to go and lose 1-0 and people turn around and say "The other team deserved that, Arsenal don't deserve to win if they don't take their chances...". Then when Arsenal play with the tactics of that other team, they are laughed at for the stats?

On a side point, I literally cannot stand Barcelona's players. The arrogance and hypocrisy of them just infuriates me. Xavi and Alves are terrible for it, and disappointingly Iniesta seems to have gotten in on the act. They are the best team in the world, they don't need to resort to such pathetic behaviour.

In order for that first paragraph to work Arsenal would have needed to create chances and have at least a shot.

Pot kettle black? Bender thinks he's the best player in the World and the arrogance of Wenger saying that his side "would" of won had RVP not being sent off. That's pathetic. A lot of footballers are arrogant.

That's not arrogant from Wenger at all, it was 1 - 1 and they didn't really look like scoring, Arsenal were in position to go through :s For all their possession, they made very few clear cut chances vs 11 men

They made more chances then Arsenal, there was only one side in this tie up until this point, Arsenal weren't even playing the same counter attacking style that had worked in the first leg?

I thought Wenger showed in the first leg that Arsenal could maybe not go punch for punch with Arsenal, but could sneak a few punches. Then changed it second leg, got it wrong it didn't work.

I'd have Szczesny over Reina any day. Reina's a good shot-stopper, nothing more. Better than Almunia granted, but nothing to write home about. Give Szczesny time to mature, he's got a lot of potential.

Szczesny is looking good but Reina is the best keeper in the league. Pretty much general knowledge nowadays.

They didn't look like scoring, utter utter rubbish, they broke through on goal constantly all game long, just because they kept screwing up, Crouch, Kuyt, loads of strikers would eventually score given chance after chance after chance.

Delusional Arsenal fans, RVP getting sent off literally changed the game, how could it not, but seeing as up to that point RVP had touched the ball for a total of like 8 seconds, hadn't come close to having a shot on goal, and wasn't remotely involved.

The rumour now being that Fabregas was injured in the 15th min(after starting the game no where near fit), what changed the game was Wenger refusing to change Cesc, Diaby then later on Nasri. That had a million times more effect on the game than the sending off.

What was going to happen if RVP stayed on, firstly he was walking the tight rope, RVP was in a bad mood, he was likely to have been sent off anyway something Arsenal fans seem to be ignoring. Kos should have been off, Diaby should have been on a yellow and conceded a penalty.

Anyway, so RVP stays on, errm, Diaby starts being good.... nope, Nasri had shot his load, completely useless after the own goal, did literally nothing, Cesc was going to get less tired, and, I dunno, uninjure himself a little further in, nope somehow I doubt that aswell.

Where was this fundamental change in our game going to happen, we only had 2 subs left and 3-4 utterly inept players, RVP wasn't capable of holding up the ball, we couldn't get the ball near him, how were we going to win?

In the first leg, most of our players were having a blinder, we were able to pass to our striker in the first half despite being dominated, we weren't carrying two injuries and the laziest player in the world, we had 3 subs to change who we wanted, we made big changes and the game turned around completely, we didn't have that option or capability in the second leg.

Hell, after RVP went off, in the final 10 minutes one goal would have won it on away goals, Diaby still failed to run at more than a snails pace even once, Nasri still didn't manage to run either, we still didn't create anything, and we were pushing forwards and leaving space.

lol, Barca didn't look like scoring, we weren't dominated and on another night the game could have gone our way, some of the truly daft views we've had in this thread.

Barca looked like scoring from the first minute to the last, how they didn't score 4-5 more I'll never know, Arsenal never from the first to the last minute looked threatening, we were absolutely gifted a goal and we STILL couldn't raise our game.

They did, but Arsenal's game plan was clearly to keep the score low and attack late. Somehow they'd got 1 - 1 going into the latter stages (god knows how). To say Arsenal could have gone through isn't arrogant. Arsenal's game plan was working at 1 - 1, then RvP got sent off and Barca moved up the pitch 20 yards and committed 2 extra men forwards.

He has obviously missed the point of all that, leave him to it.

You don't half post a lot Tummy seeing as you were having a break.

Sorry really disagree. RVP did nothing other then argue and be a bit mouthy in the first half, must have had less then 10 touches and Arsenal could barely string 3/4 passes together let alone counter attack. They were sitting off Barca far too much.

Had Arsenal had 11 I still think the score would have being similar.

I think it's very arrogant of Wenger, it's just deflecting the wrath off the players (who showed in the first leg they could do something) which most managers should do. I suppose.

Other than hitting the post and being denied a clear penalty of course.

They always looked like scoring, they just needed to start converting the chances.

The pen was a shocking decision, probably as bad as the sending off. Then again Abidal should have gone for getting RvP in a choke hold. Overall the referee was absolutely awful. The post, meh, never thought that was going in, didn't even think it was a shot
