UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [16/17/18 September 2014]

It's easy for a fan to blame the manager for everything dm, the fact was that our players didn't play very well. It wasn't Wenger's fault (with the exception of playing Arteta but who else could he put there?).
Welbeck should have put away those chances (not Wenger's fault)
Ramsey wasn't up to scratch
Sanchez gave the ball away too much, as did the majority of our players.
Our defence was awful (with the exception of Koscielny who tried his best).

It was a bad day, I predict things will get better as they usually do. We should have bought another striker who can finish but hey, what's done is done.

THe manager has full control of everything that goes on at the club. He is 100% responsible for playing Arteta and for the fact that Arteta was his only option. He's had literally years to buy a proper DM and refused. He bought Arteta in the first place to be a DM rather than actually buying a DM and has since refused to rectify that mistake.

Ozil being crap in these games is standard, he did it throughout his entire team with Real. Wenger chose to buy a player who is often this crap and lazy, no one forced him to buy Ozil nor pay 42mil for him. He could have bought multiple players who could have helped the team instead. Bellarin having had no real games before today was again down to Wenger. Having no more experienced/senior back up at right back was Wenger's choice, having Gibbs at left back was Wenger's choice. Buying Sanchez and asking him to do something he's not good at was his choice.

It's not easy to blame the manager, it IS the managers fault. This squad is incapable of winning a champions league on their best day, he put together a squad that because of the types of player will exceptionally rarely have their best day.

Every single reason we lost yesterday was because of Wenger. If Chelsea randomly had a game that bad, when they don't usually play like that yes it's a one off... but that is the thing, it would be a one off. Not EVERY big game. Players and managers are entitled to a bad day, Wenger didn't have a bad day, hundreds of decisions over the past 8 years leads to this kind of performance repeatedly every season.

The idea that the fullbacks need to constantly get beyond our wide attackers, despite offering next to nothing, when we get destroyed down the flanks defensively. This is 100% Wenger's choice. He could just once say "hey, lets sit back and make it hard for the opposition", once, but no, so we always lose these games.

Oh, we beat Dortmund away.... when it didn't matter. When it mattered(qualification wasn't assured) Dortmund beat us, when they were through, they didn't care and we cling to a win like it mattered at all.

Every time it matters, we get destroyed in these games, first leg Milan, first Leg Bayern, games when qualification isn't certain, we lose and often badly with horrendous performances. But not a single change in tactic... in 8 freaking years. Not once does he go "hey, you know we'll try something new".

The players frankly played like they were beaten from the start, why, because under Wenger they know they can't win that game.

6-3 City, 5-1 Chelsea, 6-0 Chelsea...... we do not win these games, we play this badly in every single one.

This is not in any way a one off bad performance. We have been destroyed by anyone at all good if the game mattered in the slightest to the opposition every time for years. With literally no improvement, not one change in tactic just to see if another way can work.

When our tactics fail miserably every time against good opposition and our response is to stick with the same tactics again... it is no ones fault but the managers.

At least Arsenal 'only' lost to the best team in the group (best by some margin)... they should still easily qualify. Atletico, on the other hand, have now got a fair bit of work to do...

They had a bad night after a very tough game. Athletico vs Madrid and they won. CL won't come after their biggest game of the season every time and away in Greece or Turkey is always a difficult prospect, away from home Greek/Turkish teams are usually woeful. Atletico will almost certainly make it through without issue. Just their toughest game a few days after their toughest league game of the season. Unlike Barca/Real, they couldn't change the team around as much or be as fresh leading up to the weekend game or to make changes for this game.

6-3 City, 5-1 Chelsea, 6-0 Chelsea...... we do not win these games, we play this badly in every single one.

Maybe money is becoming more of a problem eh? who can really compete with City, Chelsea and UTD in the grand scheme of things?
