UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [24/25/26 November 2015]

Schniederlin has been awful. Really awful. Terrible match/ First 45 not too bad but gash since half time. LvG needs a rethink

to be fair majority of the team looked shocking for the whole 90 minutes

Fellaini was a complete waste of space, pointless bringing him on

Mata was invisible (for all of the 9 minutes he played)

Lingard and Martial looked good but hardly got any decent service and not really at the speed required (so they were surrounded by defenders once they eventually got it)

Rooney has also lost 90% of the pace that he had a year or two back, so anytime he got the ball (even remotely close to their penalty area) it looked like he was running in water compared to the defenders around him

edit - Wasn't this the kind of game Schwienstiger was bought for to take by the scruff of the neck and control - he barely did anything (and its not like he has been amazing for the last month or two)

I'm not sure United should stick by LvG if things don't improve by the end of this season. Failure to qualify for the CL knockout plus awful, boring football is sackable imo. Do we really want to hand LvG another £100 million+ to waste?

If Ancelotti is available or Guardiola has had enough at Bayern, I'd say we get rid of LvG and bring one of those two in.

We should have got Klopp, he was always my first choice after SAF.
Utter dross, fell asleep watching it. We won't win Europa either, Spurs and Liverpool seem to be playing a million times better.

We should be I get the impression we are going to keep going through managers for a few years because we sack them when the ones we want aren't available.

I honestly think the whole United team and board needs an overhaul.

These players need shipping out:
  • Darmian
  • Valencia
  • Rojo
  • Schneiderlin
  • Young
  • Fellaini

Our fullbacks (Shaw aside) and makeshift fullbacks can't beat a man and couldn't even cross a road. LvGs substitutions last night were just woeful; prior to the subs we had all the possession but no threat and after the subs PSV started to look dangerous.

We're blowing money left, right and center on panic signings because we can't attract decent talent. Half of the above listed players who I believe aren't good enough to wear a United shirt are new signings. I wouldn't even trust Ed Woodward with a trip to Tesco Express with a £5 note.

You can probably add Depay to the above list but I do believe he has the talent to come good, but I'm not sure LvG is the sort of manager to best nurture talent.

Darmian has been good for us  Rojo is also absolutely fine, he's currently filling in at left back and doing just fine. Schneiderlin needs to try a lot harder, he has too many performances where he just seems to do nothing.

Darmian? He's always looked pretty good to me, with the odd exception which is understandable considering his lack of experience in this league.

Darmian has looked good almost all the time since he joined. Thats quite impressive considering he is quite young and LvG loves to drop him all the time. Schneiderlin is being asked to do a pretty hard job at the moment because the rest of the team in front of him is cack at the moment.

Last night he had a bit of a shocker but the players in front of him were not making themselves available, there was no midfield player ahead of him to bridge the gaps most of the time.

I don't know how we manage to play this way so consistently. We are lethargic in defence so even though we have loads of players back we are easy to penetrate and then when we go forwards we are really isolated and have players taking up the entire pitch with absolutely no overload in any areas.

Watching any of the top teams at the moment and they have a small group of players around their guy with the ball the whole time. They move as a pack. We had our guy with the ball out on the wing in our half and the rest of the team was just spread evenly over the rest of the pitch. There were no options close to him.

LvG just seems entirely clueless and if what we are doing at the moment is his idea of the football he wants to play then there is little hope. Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin are not massively mobile and then he shoehorns a load of attackers in ahead of them,

Rooney shouldn't be anywhere near the team at the moment. Mata should be playing as well as probably Pereira. Players who have some guile and good technique.

The subs last night were just a big joke as well.

Fine isn't good enough though, fine is acceptable when you're a squad player in a team that isn't playing at the levels of the champions league. They might both be fine in terms of not being defensive liabilities but they never look comfortable going forward.

Rafael and Evra were the complete opposite. Rafael's temper made him a liability in big matches and Evra could sometimes look suspect defensively (although he improved later in his career). With that being said, every United fan was gutted to see them both leave because they were keen to get forward and beat a man or two.

Don't get me wrong, he's not Fellaini levels of bad but I'm not convinced he'll turn into anything to write home about.

How is Schneiderlin being asked to do a lot? He's most often played as one of a defensive midfield pair. That makes it easy for him because he doesn't have to be mindful of the gaps being left by an attacking midfielder playing next to him who would be pushing up. That's why I was so disappointed with his performance last night, he was a DM giving the ball away easily in his own half on multiple occasions.

Has age caught up on Schweinsteiger or is he just told not to run? He looks so incredibly slow, I'm sure he was never like that for BM. He makes Pirlo look quick!

Rojo is primarily a centre back, he's just being used at left back because Shaw is injured. I think he's done pretty well there. Darmian seems good going forward, not sure what you're talking about. I'd say he was one of the best crossers on our team.

I watched the Utd game last night and recorded the City one. I know the score from the City one already but is it worth watching regardless of the score? I usually watch most of the matches after the fact but dunno if i can be bothered at 0-1

He didn't have any protection in front of him. You can't expect your DM to protect the back four when your other midfielders aren't doing anything. He is only one man. Last night he was very poor but I don't think he has been poor for most of the season and the times he usually doesn't look up to scratch is when LvG decides to play a weird formation.

Bleh, won't waste my time then. Just annoyed i sat through the full 90 mins of the utd game last night. Hopefully the Liverpool one tonight is better.
