UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [30 September - 01/02 October 2014]

I'm far more concerned with a defense that still cant defend set pieces, or the fact that Rodgers seemingly is unable to address that problem.

I know a lot of our fans like to regurgitate the sweeper keeper ******** theory that podcasters/forums etc are peddling, but a sweeper keeper would not address the goals we regularly concede. If Migs wasnt such an excellent shot stopper we would have conceded far more last year - he is low on confidence currently, but the manager needs to take the blame for our defense for me, we havent learnt over the course of 3 seasons now.

To be honest I don't listen to podcasts or read any football forums, so I'm regurgitating nothing. However, the issue with set-pieces is two-fold. First, whatever system we have in place is clearly not working. There are worse defenders than Skrtel who defend set-pieces far better - something is going wrong, and it's not just a lack of ability.

Second, one of the issues with the system is Mignolet's lack of willingness to come claim the ball. For Basel's goal, the ball was in the space between our defence and the keeper. There was nothing significant stopping Mignolet from claiming it. Yes, once he didn't Skrtel should have done better, but he should have come.

On another note, Lallana has been our best player since coming on in the last few games. He's got to start from here on.

Holy **** what just happened with Sterling?

Nothing's going our way tonight. Be surprised if the plane home goes the right way.

Game is pretty dead now, at least we had one half and a bit where we got to practice our attacking play, and now 3/4 of the 2nd half has just been practising defence, although no doubt Chelsea will bend us over at the weekend and have their way as they always do.

What is wrong with Wenger, Wilshere turned his ankle, you could just fully rest him with Coquelin, Campbell, Podolski on the bench who could all come on to offer legs over Ozil... instead he brings on a player who could do with a break ahead of a busy period of games in the middle of an injury crisis.

Now if this was 4-3 you might bring on experience, but he's still bringing him on for an attacking player so it's less important. But it's been game over for 50 minutes. How on earth do you not choose to give Coquelin some more minutes in DM... where we have no one and he was actually promising, or Campbell who needs a chance to prove himself. Instead in a game that is over you bring on a player who should be protected. This after press conferences in which Wenger said he's baffled by the injury crisis...........

It's okay Rodgers changing it now but it's too late that's my one gripe with him this season when it's games like this clearly not working he won't change it till very late on

It's 4-1. Your team are winning. Are you EVER positive? I notice you very rarely post if Arsenal are actually doing alright. I fail to understand if you support Arsenal or just like to moan about them.

I do agree with your point though.

Losing to Basel isnt too bad and overall results now its not the end of the world. L'pool may not have been great so far this season, but its way too early to hit the panic button.

Start worrying if you are not within champs league places after 20 games

If I was the liverpool defence i would start buying whistle's,pepper spray, the works becasue the next game Ronaldo and friends are coming. Its going to hurt.

Yep, really not looking forward to that game because the sensible thing to do would be to sit deep and try and hit them on the break but we'll play a high line and got thumped.

It's the manner of way we're losing and not defending at all, tonight I can't recall any decent shots bar baloteli free kick

Not sure how. There's no way we're beating Real in either game, Basel will probably beat us at Anfield too.
