UEFA Champions League/Europa League ** Spoilers ** [30 September - 01/02 October 2014]

To be honest I don't listen to podcasts or read any football forums, so I'm regurgitating nothing. However, the issue with set-pieces is two-fold. First, whatever system we have in place is clearly not working. There are worse defenders than Skrtel who defend set-pieces far better - something is going wrong, and it's not just a lack of ability.

Second, one of the issues with the system is Mignolet's lack of willingness to come claim the ball. For Basel's goal, the ball was in the space between our defence and the keeper. There was nothing significant stopping Mignolet from claiming it. Yes, once he didn't Skrtel should have done better, but he should have come.

On another note, Lallana has been our best player since coming on in the last few games. He's got to start from here on.

It was a ball that competent defenders deal with all day long, Skrtel unfortunately isnt competent at dealing with set peices. He is always far to busy wrestling with his man to keep his eye on the ball and deal with the danger - it happened last year on numerous occasions, it happened today, it will happen in the future when he is in the team.

The goal was a carbon copy of goals we conceded in Rodgers 1st season, and last season. He doesn't learn, or rather is seemingly unwilling to wrk on te defensive side of the game - hell I think he has all but admitted to saying you cant coach the defensive side and goals come from individual errors. All you can do is try to work on those errors. Utter horse **** - we need a defensive coach in and we need one now.

Not sure how. There's no way we're beating Real in either game, Basel will probably beat us at Anfield too.

We (chelsea) have played them a few times, they're never easy, you have to scrap one / beat them with indivudal brilliance a-la luiz free kick.

However, they tend to slip up vs other teams. So long as l'pool beat ludogradz again and draw with basel I think that will do

nah but ludo will beat you at their ground

Did you know that 64 of your 666 posts have the word "Liverpool" in them?

Having 10% of your posts about a team you clearly despise is pretty impressive. And that's ignoring related posts, about Liverpool without containing the club's name.

Abysmal performance. Can't keep the ball, don't attack with pace and still can't defend set pieces.

We really need Sturridge back and a big result soon or Rodgers is going to come under a lot of pressure.

Such a frustrating performance. Every time we went forward we had opportunities to creat chances but it seemed like Sterling and Markovic had a competition between them to find the most ways to **** it up.

Sterling was the Motm for basel

Brendan taking off Coutinho instead of him (or markovic, although at least he scuffed his shots instead of bottling it.

Mario living off scraps, looks ten times better with a second striker and generally gets the crap kicked out of him. We arent fun to watch, thank **** for NFL until Christmas

It's a good sign when bitters are awfully obsessed with you, although makes me wonder if it's making up for other parts of their lives.

He scores when he wants!, he scores when he wants!, Danny Welbeck scores when he wants!:D

Nice hattrick from Welbz tonight, was immense along with Sanchez who also got on the score sheet. Ozil got his assist too, should have had a goal if he had run just a little bit harder:p.

Disappointed to see Chessers get another red card but Ospina didnt do too badly even tho he was straight in to try and save a penalty lol.

4-1 win, not bad not bad at all and a good 18th anniversary present for Le Prof.
