To be honest I'm not a fan of defensive football but a lot of people are talking some rubbish, Chelsea weren't massively outplayed by Barca or Bayern, their tactic was to concede the ball up till the final third and defend well there, they did this in both games.
There was some luck, there isn't a win in football that doesn't have some luck in it. Chelsea didn't fluke most of the blocks tonight, Lampard was absolutely outstanding, he was everywhere, sometimes tackling, sometimes blocking, sometimes just putting the shooter under pressure, Mikel was also very good.
As for not exciting, sorry but that's BS as well, the Barca/Chelsea and Chelsea/Bayern games were both epic, nothing less, seen awful games with two top teams where neither attack or both pack midfield and neither has many shots at all, those are boring. This was pure entertainment start to finish.
I prefer seeing full on attack vs full on attack, that rarely happens, though I actually think Chelsea could have done just as well doing that tonight. Passing wise, I think Chelsea were actually better, just not sustained, some of the passing out of defence and around midfield, one touch passing, only a few times throughout when they actually looked like they wanted to keep it, was fantastic. Shame they didn't want to attack but that is life.
Chelsea's defence was better than Bayern's and Barca's attack, and Drogba, what a god damned beast of a player.
Only have to continually laugh at everyone who especially early season, but some on here throughout the old season, who went on at length about "old guards" and past it players and Lampard and Drogba being too old. Two of the best players in the champs league and prem league this season, Cech has come back to his best form, and since AVB has gone Cashley, much as I hate him, has been absolutely outstanding.
Well done Chelsea, unlucky Spurs, Ribery and Robben weren't good enough, Kroos.... haven't yet, and don't think I ever will work out why he's rated at all. Muller, great goal, awful manager decision, take off a scorer when he's a part of your build up play and your team is dominating.... NEVER change a key player at an important part of the game, ever, unless absolutely no choice.
