UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ... Bayern Munich v Chelsea ... *** Spoilers ***

No need to pander and explain to the obvious ***** trying to wind fans up... they know exactly what they're doing.

Lol, we're not all trying to wind you up (certainly I'm not, my mum is a spurs fan and she was absolutely gutted tonight), some of us are just trying to get you to see logic and sense. Spurs failed to ensure qualification by finishing in the top three, and suggesting that any other team who successfully qualified should have it taken away from them for the benefit of Spurs is just hilarious and ridiculous!

edit: and with regards to Drogba, I think that's the last we'll see of him at Chelsea. It's a great way for him to end his time with them imo. There's still plenty of work to be done at Chelsea, Abramovich is going to have to make some serious investment to make them competitive for years to come. They're in a tricky position where their best players are all about the same age and all getting the wrong side of 30. I'm not convinced Abramovich will continue to own the club for years to come tbh.

Congrats chelsea. What a great story this years CL has been for English clubs. Man U getting destroyed left and right, Arsenal almost making a miracle comeback and Chelsea never say die atitude. Great advert for English football.

Looking at the past 7 years its been 3 different English clubs, 1 Spanish club and 2 Italian clubs... yet, everyone says the BPL is the weakest in Europe?

Drogba needs to leave and take a pay rise elsewhere and make as much money as possible in the end years of his career. He has done everything in club football now. Sad to see him leave the BPL but its the smart choice. Footballers have short careers as it is.

No I'm not joking. I was watching it with 4 other people and we were all bored rigid for 80 minutes and going through my timeline on twitter many of the football pundits I follow say likewise. Dont let two late goals and a penalty shootout cloud the fact that for 80 minutes it was a pretty dull game

Have to agree here, it was mostly boring.

Was a very boring game indeed, if Bayern had only done more with the chances they had the game would have picked up, but alas, it's one of those boring cup finals.

It's time for Chelsea to move on from Drogba, it's the same as us relying on Scholes & Giggs, they're all great players and are still capable of match winning moments at important times in important games but they're all living on borrowed time (in a professional sense).

With the money Chelsea have at their disposal there's no reason why they shouldn't have a striker in his prime that's a lot more consistent than Drogba (given his age) & Torres.

Seriously, you're going to say that again, Scholes and Giggs are what, 37 and 38, Drogba just won the champs league final with one of his best performances, and he's only 33/34. What about his performances have been inconsistent? He hasn't scored a whole lot, he hasn't played that much, most importantly, his job has been holding up the ball this year more than it has been scoring, and he's done that phenomenally well.

There isn't a single reason to believe he's past it, as I mentioned earlier, there were a LOT of people claiming Chelsea will never win anything due to the age of the squad, a lot of people were saying Scholes was past it....

They have all been proven categorically incorrect, so given the chance you say Drogba is past it, again, despite literally less than 2 hours ago proving he wasn't, and you are are saying he and 2 other players 4 years his senior are living on borrowed time.

Scholes was one of your best players this year, Drogba, Lampard and Terry were brilliant all year long.

As for dull game, you're mental, absolutely mental, it wasn't dull, there were chances all game long, there were blocks, last minute tackles, saves throughout.

Don't be fooled by the last 50 minutes, just because there hasn't been a goal doesn't mean nothing is happening.

A bore fest is when two teams(usually equally bad or equally brilliant) utterly cancel each other out, you get no shots at all, you barely get into the final third at either end, and people pass it around without finding forward passes, this was nothing even remotely close to that.

Once again Ribery was **** and Gomez once again showed anything but the finishing of a 40 goal a season striker (so stick that in your pipe Killswitch :p)

I'll concede that, he was dreadful tonight, he choked big time. Whenever I've watched him play league matches he looks really sharp and up for it, maybe he just can't handle the Champions League but 12 goals in the campaign isn't a bad haul at all. :)

LOL dont worry guys, soon it will be City 'buying' their way to a CL title and im pretty sure Chelsea will do the same this summer...all they need is a decent manager although Di Matteo should get the job in all honesty...for what hes done ie won the FA Cup and the CL...he should get it and if he doesnt then if i was him id be pretty damn narked off as hes the only temp manager for Chelsea thats managed to win them the CL.

Tbh thinking about the game tonight, i was peeved that it went to penalties but god damn Bayern should have had this game sunk by the 80th min with the amount of chances they had. As i said Gomez was the worst of the bunch but Ribery and Robben werent far behind...fair enough Chelsea defended like crazy and took their chance when they scored off that header but had Bayern been more clinical in front of goal...then it would be Bayern that would be CL champs and not Chelsea. Couldnt believe it when Robben missed that penalty in the first half of ET...gift of a goal and he goes and gets it saved lol. Then Olic tries to be too fancy with the ball and it goes out with Van Buyten not tapping it in.

But no forgiveness for the 2 missed penalties by Olic and Schweinsteiger, who should have done better...WTF was he doing?? and why was he allowed to take the penalty as he looked completely out of sorts by the end of ET.

Too many costly errors cost Bayern the CL title, taking Muller off for a defender who did FA when he came on was lolworthy at best. If anyone should have gone off, should have been Gomez imho. Losing Ribery, altho he was **** most of the game affected Bayern as well because without him they couldnt get the ball in the middle.

Meh still a bit narked off that the game was decided by penalties but thats the way the cookie crumbles as they say:p.

As much as it pains me to say this but again ill say congrats to Chelsea...i dont think at any time you deserved to win the game but lady luck was definitely on your side ie you had massive amounts of luck against Barca. But congrats anyhow, hopefully your **** of an owner can now rest easy.

Drogba was immense tonight, as much as i loathe the guy for his diving antics...he was the one who really imho won you the game...had he not scored to tie it up...you would have ended up losing.

All in all it wasnt a great final...it was as people have rightly said on here a borefest much like when Chelsea lost to Utd in the final on penalties.

Commiserations to Spurs fans who thought they had bagged 4th place, only to be denied by Chelsea winning:p...guess there is a silver lining in every cloud:p.

Seriously, you're going to say that again

Say what again? When have I ever commented on Drogba one way or another?

As for the rest it doesn't matter a jot that Scholes was one of our best players this season because as good as he was it says more about the 'problems' at the club than it does about Scholes. Same thing with Chelsea and Drogba, he's been in and out of the side even under RDM and for him still to be their main man with the money at their disposal it says more about the lack of quality they have up front then it does about Drogba.

Weren't 11 of them against Basel? :D

One for Tom: 21 of Mario Gomez's 26 Bundesliga goals this season came against teams in the bottom half of the table.

From what I've seen of him in Europe this season I'd love to see his chance/conversion rate, you know what they used to say about Andy Cole and how he needed 4 chances to score 1 goal..... replace Andy Cole with Mario Gomez :p

So that proves that when he comes up against decent defences he cant score for ****:p.

I really dont see why hes rated so highly, he was absolute gash tonight and against Real in the previous round.

I personally think Bayern's worst player was Robben. He's so incredibly predictable, just cutting inside on his left foot every time. He even puts all his penalties the same way. Before he took his pen I said he'd go to Cech's left-hand bottom corner and he did, just ridiculously predictable.

I didn't think the game was boring at all. I was glued to the screen the entire time. I'll even be wearing the same underwear for two days to work tomorrow because I didn't want to get up and put my clothes in the wash.

Chelsea vs Man United first FA cup final at the new wembley was a boring game. This, was not.

Hes definitely not the player he was a few yrs back when he knocked Utd out of the CL with his 'Robben' specials. Tonight his crosses and corners were absolutely horrendous, he couldnt even get it into the box and when he did, he overdid it.

But for me its definitely Gomez, he had a few chances to nail the game shut...even Muller to an extent until he finally bagged one.

Just seemed like Bayern didnt have a clue when they got to Chelsea's goal ie they couldnt break down the defence and when they did, they faffed their chances.

He's been in and out of the side due to injury, ACN and AVB trying to force him out for being "old".

Also no, you're again wrong, Scholes wasn't one of your best players because the rest of your midfield is naff, he's one of your best players this year because he's one of the best central midfielders in the world, bar none.

Against City he had something along the lines of 98.5% pass completion rate, just no one upfront to pass to. Scholes is just still a brilliant player, as is Drogba.

Drogba has dominated many a defence that many many hundreds of other strikers haven't been able to, you are being absolutely ridiculously unfair to him to say he's looked great only because their other options are poor, that's a complete joke.

You've commented many times this season about older players being past it, not Drogba specifically, and as I pointed out you again have had a go at Scholes and Drogba because of their age rather than their ability, which hasn't diminished in the slightest.

If they were both 25, there would be few better players most people would want in their team over them both, age is irrelevant, current ability is, both are still brilliant players, nothing else to it.

Robben had a bad game but all attacks go through him, regardless of him having a poor game he always looks dangerous on the ball and was the only one I could see scoring or creating something.

If he wasn't playing I can't see where their attacks would have come from.

Which was exactly the same problem they had against Real, total lack of quality where it matters.

RE Robben I remember that run he had that year, absolute storming goals in every one of the knock out ties. No doubt on his day he's world class but he's definitely one that needs some special management to consistently get the best out of him. He should have came to United when he had the chance :D
