UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL ... Bayern Munich v Chelsea ... *** Spoilers ***

when I went to Stamford Bridge in December to see Chelsea fight for their champions league life if someone has said they would win the competition I would have asked them what they been smoking

the majority of the hatred is towards JT rightly so he was suspended that night and UEFA should not have let him wear his kit and lift that cup. If you don't support chelsea this man is probably one of the most hated played in the England setup and to think he will be playing in Euro 2012 is really beyond belief.

Not a chelsea fan myself but drogba is a special player imo
it was for sure written in the stars for them to win this but I see no reason why JT had the chance to lift that cup!

They were very lucky. Bayern were easily the better side and hit the woodwork two or three times whilst 1-0 up. Manyoo poxed their win, would you have traded away that treble to the better side?

I agree and said as much.

Bayern were also on the treble and should have won a treble, not United. You can't 'trade away' cups, but you can say that Manchester United didn't deserve to win that game and were much the worse side.

Lol Tummy.

So it's ok if your team get relegated as long as they your ideal way of football.

My team were recently relegated, it was devastating because it was the last day and we went down with nothing more then a limp fight.

We have been promoted playing better football, but for long periods of the season we played some pretty turgid, unimaginative football witch was horrible and depressing to watch. I went and supported my team as I'm a season ticket holder but I didn't ~enjoy the bad football.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to understand. Swansea have stuck to their footballing ethos and have had hugely successful season. It's refreshing.

I wouldn't want my team (hypothetically) to stop playing their good football, abandon their footballing ethos and ideology for bad, turgid results football.

I thought the seats around where we sat were the best in the house. Shame we didn't have the penalties where we were but I don't think we could have watched them from our end. The booing from the Bayern fans was deafening when we took ours so it was sweet revenge when they saw their misses up front and personal. I’m still not back on planet earth today. I think it’s going to be a few more days before that happens. :D

Haha, it will be ages before it happens. Wait until next seasons campaign starts and you're the 'defending champions'

just what does tummy mean by 'student of the game'?

Why don't you ask him?

It means I spend ages looking at and thinking about tactics and players blah blah, Moses said he enjoys the more finical aspects of the game, I enjoy a more in depth tactical view of the games, fiancees on the most part bore me.

I enjoy mental footballers though and mental people involved in football, but I'm mainly a tactical geek.

Ah, but that's not what I asked. I said would you trade that away to keep your 'nice football' or would you stay with the fact that you were outplayed and poxed a win?

I'd take the win every single time.

I wouldn't, I mean, in that situation, no, I'd have no problem in giving the better side on the night, the team who should have won, the trophy.

I just don't believe in winning ugly.

I wouldn't expect a Leeds fan to understand though :p

You say you're a tactical geek, but then have no appreciation for a team finding a way to win against another that is superior both individually and as a unit. I don't get that .

I also, take the point that some people might enjoy watching what I think of as 'bad' football, so it's still a viable tactic when it's done well. It's just not how I'd personally want a team I support to set up.

I understand for example why Stoke, play like they do, I don't think badly of them, I just think they don't play football to my taste. I'd love to have a league where everyone plays much more 'ball on the ground' football with attacking flare and such, but it's not going to happen in this country.

When I take a tactical point of view on a game, I don't discount teams that don't play football to my taste. I've probably done a terrible job of explaining this all to be honest, and I'm sure the Football Arena will continue to mock me.

exactly. in any sport, the route to winning is as much offensive as defensive.

They won on set pieces?

They didn't win inside 90 or 120 minutes of football though? Unless I dreamt the penalty thing?

should we all tune in to the next sheffield wednesday game for an example of how you like the game to be played?

i'm not saying chelsea were entertaining, they weren't but i understand they did what needed to be done in the competition.

They're champions of europe. They won, end of.

They also did the exact same thing against Barcelona away, unless it was ok on that occasion?

but then that in itself is a tactical masterclass. if di matteo has gone out there and thought, we're massively undersupported, tactically not as good but i fancy our chances on a shoot out, let's play for that. what more could he have done?

Why? I'm not in charge of how Sheffield Wednesday play football?

I was critical of Chelsea against Barcelona too, but I also said that Chelsea could have attacked 'more' in the home leg. It was unimaginative football, Chelsea essentially played to 'not lose' those games. Chelsea looked over both legs very good on the counter attack and Barcelona struggled to deal with them, they didn't counter attack more, of which I understand because you sacrifice shape and the balance of the team shifts, which makes you more venerable against a side who exploit space and gaps like Barcelona.

This attitude of 'they won, end of' is one of the things that's wrong with English football. The results shouldn't paper over what was, a poor performance. Chelsea didn't win that game over 90 or 120 minutes. Bayern lost it.

but as a team you support, do they set up as you'd like them to?

Not many times this season no? Things have looked much better under Dave Jones though, although I didn't think the football was terrible no the whole under Megson, I think it was terrible in patches though.

Makes your off the cuff remarks a bit daft no?
