UEFA Champion's League Final [Bayern Munich v Inter Milan] Sat 22nd May **spoilers**

I wouldn't bet on it.

Why would he join Utd with a limited amount of money to spend when he could go to City (who will have established themselves in the CL etc in a couple of years) and have a unlimited budget?

Equally why would Utd want to go from Fergie who's built a legacy to somebody like JM who'll leave after a couple of years regardless of how things are?

Mourinho joinig Utd makes no sense whatsoever.

I reckon if Jose finds the right team, he will stay there for a long time. The right team has to be in a league he likes with a big budget and only Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City and Chelsea fit the bill currently.

He will not go back to Chelsea, Man City he probably doesnt want to be associated with them because its a step down from inter. Therefore Real Madrid is the only choice left because barcelona have guardiola and he is doing a decent job. He may stay in italy for another year though, nobody knows.

I think you're a bit behind the news. He's said he's going to real madrid already.

He said he's going to see what their project is first and that he is still the coach of Inter Milan, nothing has been decided yet, but from his past experiences, they strongly point to him moving to Real Madrid.

Oh. On the times website it says he's already signed a deal with them...

All I've heard is that the Real deal has been agreed 'in principle'. La Liga will be fascinating to watch next season, particularly if Barca manage to get Fabregas. Barca will have arguably the best team they have ever had, but Real won't be far behind in terms of star players, plus it will be very interesting to see how Mourinho gets on managing a team who are notoriously porous in defence and like to win in style.

It could be that even if Real win things Mourinho gets sacked, because it's hardly likely he'll play the stylish football the Madrid fans expect to see, and if the sacking of Del Bosque is anything to go by (after winning them CL and La Liga double) I wouldn't be at all surprised if he is somewhere else within a year or two. I think it's almost inevitable that at some point he will be the United manager. He wouldn't go back to Chelsea, Arsenal have Wenger, I doubt he'd want to manage Liverpool, and City lack the history and the glamour that Mourinho obviously loves. Regardless of how much he has to spend at United I would put money on him being their manager in two or three seasons time.

I think United is the job he's just "killing time" for as well. He's waiting for SAF to retire and he'll be straight in the hotseat, even if it means leaving the likes of RM stuck without a manager and no prior warning.

At the end of the day, AW is at Arsenal, Chelsea interfere too much, and Citeh aren't anywhere near prestigious enough, no matter what their supporters like to think.

At United he'd have the total reins of the club, and I reckon he'd have plenty of money to spend (SAF is notorious for not spending a penny in the transfer market, but I do believe he would be allowed to drop £50m tomorrow if he wanted to).

Just my $0.02. :)

At some point, its inevitable that he will manage Man Utd, though I'm not sure if he will be there within 3 season. Fergie is still going strong and doesnt look like he wants to quit. Fergie is doing quite well, so there is no need for him to quit in a panic.

I think if Mourinho does arrive at Man Utd, he will do so, specifically to win the treble.

After Mourinho won the CL with Porto and then won the league with Chelsea, I thought to myself that this is the best football manager in the World. Having done the treble with Inter, this just confirms that he is the best manager in the World by a good margin.

Next year, if Mourinho stays the full season at Real and gets to do things his way, its almost a certainty that he will win the title, but Barcelona will put up one heck of a fight.

Important part in bold.

If RM literally hand him the keys and tell him to get on with it, they'll most likely do very well next season, trophies guaranteed.

If he gets told how to run the team, he won't last a year.

And even if he does get to do it his way, will the fans tolerate it?

this is why i hate real madrid, their fans, president and policy is complete garbage.

they sack managers every 2 weeks. they want exciting football every day. they want to win every single game they play. its like a little spoilt kid who wants everything.

i hope they go bankrupt with their outrageous signings and wages, but the royal family will bail them out yet again. they have gotten away with it for far too long and i hope barcelona stay champions forever.

Mourinho's reputation is now pretty indisputable.. The best club coach?

I bet all united fans are a bit sick he's going to Real Madrid and not Old Trafford. It will be very interesting to see how long he lasts there. Every media idiot I've heard (except remarkably Jamie Redknapp of all people) is doubting his ability to succeed there, but I think like Brazil needed Dunga, Real Madrid need someone like Mourinho. I think we'll see him marry pragmatism and attacking football, and it'll be ******* scary...

Not really to be honest

Dedication to one club counts for a lot in my book - and I would like to see him playing proper attacking fotball (rather than counter) before coming to Utd.......now if Fergie had already left then the above would change a little but not completely

Still wouldnt trust him as far as I could throw him (crates of dirty towels etc lol)

Mourinho the best club coach?

I don't know, while I mean it's impressive him winning things, playing good football means as much to me as a football fan. He plays ugly football, his game is all defensive, and mind games.

Teams can do both, play good football and win things.

hehe well I know I'd want him at my club... pretending to be happy with pretty football and no trophies gets a bit bleak :D I guess if he's your manager, you're relying on how entertaining Mourinho himself is off the pitch to make up for it!
But you're right, he needs to show he can coach a club for 5+ years. I'd fear he's always in it for personal glory. I know some United fans though, who were hoping he'd be the next man to settle in for a dynasty after Fergie, it would be a shame for the whole premiership if he stays in Madrid for a long time now...

that is though, as others have said, hella unlikely!

I don,t know. Mourinho is without a doubt a great coach but the best?

If you look at what he's achieved none of it is that unexpected other than winning the CL with Porto. Most of the sides he's managed have been dominant in their league and had a fair amount of money to spend.

You're right that the domestic things he has won have not been altogether miraculous. Success was expected with Chelsea after the cash they splashed, and I could probably manage Inter to another Serie A title, such is their dominance domestically.

However both of his Champions League wins have been tremendously impressive. Winning it with Porto was a real achievement given the lower funds and lesser status of Portuguese football, and this year Inter beat the Spanish Champions, the English Champions and the German Champions to win the CL. Not many fancied them for the title before the tourny and Italian football isn't as good as it was in the 90s, it's definitely not as strong as the English/Spanish leagues.

The only black mark I can see against Mourinho is not managing to do better in the Champs League whilst he was at Chelsea. If he does manage to win it again with another team, and time is definitely in his favour there, his record will be unparallelled.
