** Uefa Champions League, Semi-final ** *spoilers*

Tummy, doors' that way --------->
S'alright mate, won't bother having a different opinion next time ;)
I'll leave someone else to go to the trouble of making these threads.

Please re-watch the game and watch Terry, he won a lot of tackles and made a lot of blocks. It's not the defenders job to play brilliant football, he's there to prevent it. Didn't see much of Messi after 20 minuets.

I can't remember Terry doing much, I wouldn't say he had a good game.
I'd say that most of the midfield "first row of defense" did most of the work for Chelski tonight. Monno brow had a good game against Messi, and Chelski clearly crowded him out when he had the ball, this wasn't due to Terry. was due to have midfields close him down very quickly.

He rarely had anyone to pass the ball to which explains why he gave it away too often. i'm not a fan of Malouda but he did the job he was assigned to do aside from losing Eto early on.

No, but I expected him hold up play, link up with Drogba and run towards the goal. He was poor, he gave the ball away often the same way Cech did, in the Barca midfield which just let them come forward again. Maybe I'm asking too much of an average player.

1 cross he should have caught he punches, get over it :o

He should have caught more balls, its that simple.
His distrubution was awful, and for apparently a "top 3 goalkeeper" he was awful, he made a couple of good stops. nothing more. nothing less. He also punched / looked unsure about knocking the ball away a couple of times. Compared him to Valdes, made a couple of good saves, but his distrubution was spot on. Has Cech really being that bad that today makes him look good ?

Yes his distribution was very poor, how many times did Cech actually drop the ball? Once?

:rolleyes::o:D

Did you really expect any different? Sure we should have tried to pass the ball around more but unfortunately it just didn't happen.

Yes, for one of the better teams in England I did expect better. I expected them to do a lot more :) Maybe thats just me, and the people I was with, but this wasn't a Chelsea side who were remotely interested in getting an away goal. They came here and put 10 men behind the ball.
They didn't pass, they didn't get forward, people have harped on about Barca having a weak defense, but Chelsea didn't look to test this.

As I said before, Chelsea at home need to attack, but they found out tonight they can't do that without Barca taking massive advantage. If Chelsea try and set out to contain Barca again, we will see another boring game of anti football from Chelsea, which puts them at a much higher risk of going out of the Champions League.

Sorry for having a different opinion Thermaltake, it's what makes the world interesting.

Can understand your argument but drogba wasn't making anywhere near enough runs for Malouda.

I agree on this, I honestly think he's massivly over rated, and is maybe only "really" good a hand ful of games, don't get me wrong when he's good. He's good. It's nights like tonight that make me want to punch him, he didn't put in the shift he needed to. Personally, I'd get rid of him.

Valdes made one save that was straight at him...How many goal kicks did he have to take? From a distribution point of view he was just rolling it out to the defenders because chelsea played so deep

He made a few kicks, but Chelski could have tried the short pass to a defender and actually try and play this game called football

I'm guessing that's a joke seeing as they play in completely different positions and Alves's performance was embarrassing ;)

So was Drogba's, from a nutral sat with nutrals, Alves and Drogba were awful. Main difference, when Alves was on his feet he contributed far more to the attack the Drogba.

Do you not remember the middle of the season when clubs kept coming to Stamford bridge and playing 4-5-1, parking the bus infront of the goal?

Tottenham did it as did Everton the other day. It's not only chelsEA who do it...

I've never said that it is unusual for teams to play defensivly and try and shut a team out. Manchester United do this better then most.

Premier League sucks :p
They attack attack attack in Spain :p

Nahh, Chelsea got a good result at the camp, was far from a good or convincing result. I think it might have made more problems for Chelski then they think.

They've got it all to do at home, they will attack, leaving space for Barca to lap up, and if they do and Barca score just once... well :(

Probably because Barcelona actually attacked.

I really didn't like that about the Russian mafia tonight.
Negative football :(
Erugh.

Tactical god Hiddink ey !
Put 11 men behind the ball, defend, don't attack and end up with a "priceless" goalless game away at Barca, putting way more pressure on you next time round.

When Drogba actually turns up that's debatable.

Torres is much more consistent though.

Torres being more consistent makes him much better in my opinion.
Torres seems to be more clinical and more motivated.

Drogba, in refusing to play for "Big Phil" lost all my respect as a proffessional footballer.

He clearly didn't like the manager, and didn't want to play for him, you can't have someone as temermental as that as you're main striker.

Anelka is a more complete player in my opinion.

Torres is a different type of player!

How ?
Because he isn't big and black ?

Torres is a fast, powerful forward.
Drogba is a fast, powerful forward, who also dives, and is a **** off the pitch by all accounts.

They shouldn't have to do... what Rooney / Gerrard / Lampard do.
They are both paid to recieve the ball, and score.

Torres seems better at this.

Anelka is technically a better player but he doesn't fit in at chelsea imo.

I agree with your opinion on Drogba, he acted like a 12 year old kid who had been dropped by his manager because some competition came along

Temperamental :p ?

Agree with you on Anelka ! :)

Temperament ! :D
Yes it's late, I'm tired :o

Not really an armchair expert. I watch a phenomenal amount of football.

I also watch / listen / read about a lot of football, I play and have played. I love football, I spend all my spare time reading/watching/listening and most of the time I should be doing something, I'm thinking about football.

:D just wanted to put that in.

Eat football, Sleep football, Drink football ;)

I merely made that comment in retort to your frankly ridiculous statement. 3 in a row and this one is a borderline personal attack. Grow up.

In regards to that comment, Torres is a Striker, not a Forward. Messi, Ronaldo and Rooney are some of the top forwards in the World so it goes without saying they are up there.

Okay Okay ! Torres is a the best Striker in World Football ;)
Yes he is better then the Drog :D

It's not. It's Katy Perry ;).:D

God damn you. :D:o:p

Did you watch the whole game or were you chatting with your mates down the pub drinking your pint and lifting your head towards the TV when the commentator raised his voice?

Seems that way to me, anyone who says terry was anything but brilliant needs to sit down and watch the game again. Yes Tummy, that includes you ;)

/erage.

I have explained that Terry didn't do much tonight in my opinion, the midfield got Chelski the result tonight ;)

We however have moved on to KATY Perry :p

Gemma Atkinson, SIT DOWN :D

fxt74n.jpg

She is my desktop background ;) God Bless Gemma :p

Katy ! yummy ! :D

I think United will edge this at Old Trafford :)

Arsenal have a really poor back line.

Btw*

Giggs wasn't the best player this year.
Young wasn't the best young player this year.

Lampard isn't all that :p

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::o:D

You should see yourself lucky to get the smile at the end!

Lampard has scored 20+ goals for 5 consecutive years and is the highest ever goalscoring midfielder at club level

:p

I just think he's a very average midfielder, well no he's better then average, but he's no Gerrard, Scholes, Xavi, Inesta, ect ect I think he's over rated.

He has good feet, and can hit a ball straight in a hard line, but most of his goals were more to do with "right place right time" i,e playing for a very good Chelski side in midfield with some really great players, he just takes advantage of the space they make for him.

Gerrard is miles better as an attacking midfielder ( a position they both play )
Lampard wouldn't get near a world starting 11 in my opinion.

He's a good player nothing more.
:p

/RANT :D
