UEFA Cup semi-final thread **Spoilers**

I don't think 200,000 is that outrageous. Not for all the Rangers fans in Scotland/England and the rest of the World.

They couldnt get 25,000 for a Scottish Cup semi final 2 weeks ago. They will take a large following of hangers on and glory hunters, dont forget even Gretna took about 20,000 to the scottish cup final when they usually get about 400 fans each week.

Scottish Cup Finals come round fairly regularly for Old Firm fans, it isn't an excuse to be blase about them but some people definitely are. A UEFA Cup Final is a rather different affair, I haven't checked the history but I don't think Rangers have ever been at one before which makes it just a little bit special for them.

And so what if a few (thousand) glory hunters go along, the argument of "well we had X amount of true fans travelling to our cup final" would be a stupid one if someone were to make it. The people are there to support the team on the day, that is good enough to count.

Metalface Mark - I love the irony of two of your posts. First you criticise another member for supposedly taking away tickets from the real fans, then you admit that you yourself have done exactly that with the aim of making a profit out of the circumstances.

In my opinion it is you who has submitted a pretty disgraceful post.

I also think the 80k mark will be easily eclipsed. With it being so close it is a lot easier for fans to get to. I reckon it could easily be over the 100k mark.

I make no apologies, business is business.

Celtic do have a much bigger fanbase than Rangers, as i said there isnt the same appeal in going to Manchester to hang on around the town as there is to somewhere like Seville. They will take a good following but i doubt it will be anything like the figures quoted.

Of course there is. Go a mile or so down the road from Man City's ground and they'll see a proper stadium.

I see Prandelli has been quick to get his snide remarks in.

"A team that has renounced to play has won, football is like this. Football sometimes awards teams that don't deserve it."

A bit over the top there but has he got a point? Rangers fans are always quick to complain when lesser SPL clubs (like Gretna, St Mirren or Hearts) line up with ten men behind the ball at Ibrox.

Hearts a lesser team? Why I oughtta. :p I don't know whether I'd call it right or wrong of Prandelli to complain, it is hardly a surprise that a losing manager would focus on the 'non-football' that was played though. It isn't pretty, it won't please the purists but it is/was effective and managers are primarily judged on results.

Interested? ;)

:p

I'm not a Rangers fan by any stretch of the imagination but otherwise....... ;)

Don't understand the comments myself. Rangers had some truly clear cut chances and Whittaker nearly scored a lovely bending shot to the top opposite corner but for a Frey chance.

Fiorentina want to thank themselves they got to Penalties. They had 210 minutes of open play to try and couldn't beat rangers. Then they had a shootout from 12 yards and still couldn't beat Rangers. Fiorentina saw more of the ball, but the more clear cut chances came to Rangers for me. Much like Man Utd over Barcelona.
