So close from Ronaldo!
Portugal are a terrible team to watch, they're just waiting for Ronaldo or Nani to do something special.
How would goal line technology be able to tell if that portugese player had slipped or was fouled? Because the commentator alluded to it. While on that subject, how would goal line technology tell if there's a goal such as in the case of ukraine v england the other night, since the ball went over the goal line but didn't land and was kicked out on the volley. I thought, like tennis, the ball would have to land?
I believe the Hawk-eye technology can work in three dimensional space without the need for the ball to touch the ground. It has been tested at several football matches already including the friendly between England and Belgium at Wembley just before the Euro's.

I see. Fair enough. But presumably it couldn't discern between a slip and a foul in the penalty area?
