UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

I would prefer Barkley over Sterling tbh. Then it'd be 3 players behind the striker in Barkley Alli Lallana who could all do whatever they want there and not worry about the wing because it can be exploited by the full backs. When the full backs are bombing up all that needs to happen is for Dier to sit.

I know Lallana didn't have a great night in front of goal but most were half chances he did well to get into. His overall play and closing down was good I thought.

Amazing how in 2 years it's changed for Sterling. Two years ago this forum was spitting fire that he wasn't playing in Rooneys position. Now Vardy is flavour of the week.

I cannot believe he left Sterling on for 86 minutes, he was terrible from the very 1st minute although Rooney wasn't great I thought he was far from the worst player on the pitch and played half decent.

Rose, Smalling and Cahill were appalling and you could see that it just wasn't working for Kane, I was talking to my mates (Spurs fan and a Everton fan) and they both agreed that as a lone front man Kane needed to 'make it stick' more ala Giroud for France although the service to him was poor.

The press love in is nauseating to say the least, we weren't great against a poor Russian side but with better finishing should've been out of sight by the time they equalised.

On another day we'd have been 4 up, but then on another day we also could have missed the free kick and lost 1-0.

It's hard to give service to a player that was never in the box. As I've said before, Sterling and co can't service something that isn't there. Kane went missing on Saturday and it needs changing for Thursday.

Personally Id bring in Sturridge and Vardy for two of Kane, Sterling and Lallana...

Is Sterling protected/adored by the media/ITV? They seemed to struggle to identify him as a major weak link in that starting XI.

That only leaves Barkley then, who's international form is questionable but he should have an opportunity anyhow.

I actually like Barkley as a player, but yes he has been a bit up and down consistantly (a while ago this was the case for Everton too, but things might have changed recently)

As a collective group we can all see that Sterling shouldn't be playing & Kane shouldn't be taking corners as a minimum - even all the BBC pundits agree on those two clear points.
Let's see if Woy has the balls to change anything, he'll probably stick with the starting 11 to try and prove a point that he was right.
Wilshire shouldn't be starting just yet, 60-70min substitute will suit him fine. He's aggressive going forward which was what we needed (just earlier Roy!).

2 years ago Sterling was the form player, now it's Vardy. Why is wanting players that are on a high at the moment to play a bad thing?

It's almost as if form means something :p
If a player is hot and in form, play him!!! Sterling has done nothing all season, let alone in an England shirt. Some players just don't work out on the national team, move on.

...and now we have a proven goalscorer that's as fast or faster, and you're complaining that we want him played?

As I recall didn't sterling score some important goals towards the end of that season, or was that the season before?

Hodgson saying Kane is the best striker of the ball we have, which is why he's taking corners. He also said we have other players like Rooney in the box so we don't need Kane in there.

We can only hope this joker will be gone after the summer.

No I was just saying how things have changed for him.

My only issue would be how quick England fans have got on the back of Kane, like you get 70 minutes and then that's it. He's scored more over a longer period than Vardy and as soon as you don't get a goal inside of 45 minutes people want to change it. Other sides leave on their most potent striker despite them having a quiet game.

I fear sterling's career will end up going down the same path as Aaron Lennon, started out so promising (spoke of as David Beckhams natural successor) but now everybody has found him out all he has is pace and no end product

Everybody knew he was just all pace & no end product. Even during that 'good' season with Sturridge & Suarez.
