UEFA Euro 2016 Group B ** spoilers** (England, Slovakia, Russia, Wales)

Arguably we do have the squad to rotate/rest a bit but seems a gamble to me. We have not qualified yet..........

*Though looking at the above team we "should" be ok.

This is the BBC report on it.

I can't understand why you would take Rose and Walker out, they played great. Unless this really is a genuine attempt to rest players but even then I wouldn't want to disrupt the squad so entirely.
With Rose/Walker pretty much playing as wing backs, we're going to need them fully fit later on in the tournament.

Seems a stupid risk to me, fair enough rest one or maybe two but England havent exactly played brilliantly for anywhere near 90 minutes to really know for sure who the best team is anyway - not to mention there are .....5 days? before the next match so should be enough to rest everyone anyway even if it is the same players.

Well it is a gamble, just don't understand why you would rest Rooney our captain who is playing well in the deep midfield role and our two fullbacks one of which has been in excellent form.
Its not like they need a rest!

Harry Kane been written off then? Odd really when you think how much of a star striker he is. He might be ready to score some goals now.

I'm hoping we'll see him brought on as an impact substitution and he'll live up to his talent. He's just looked very out of sorts in an England shirt in the last few games but let's not write him off completely yet.

I don't mind Walker being rested as Clyne isn't too different, but we'll miss Rose and (and this can't have been said to often in the past few years) Rooney.

Rooney's been fantastic, and I say that as one of the people who thought he shouldn't have been in the squad. When the guy turns up, hes a soldier. If he needs a rest to keep that form, then I'm all for it.

Agree that it's a bit of a risk, especially seeing as we can still finish 3rd. However it's good to see sturridge and Vardy on and no sign of Sterling.

Should keep the Rooney hate brigade happy too.

Before the campaign I argued that Rooney shouldn't even go; his performance in the last two games has convinced me otherwise. But, as MooMoo444 says, if he needs a rest then he should get it. We will need him in the knockout stages.

It is a bit of a gamble because if you keep the same team and they get a good result you have that momentum going forward as they have been playing as a unit, which I think considering how many games you play in the grand scheme of things is one of the most important.

On the other hand it could be a good thing as the "bench" players have a point to prove, brings more competition into the squad. Just goes to show how much quality the English squad does have. We haven't had a strike force as we have now since the mid 90's.

I think Rooney has been alright but fantastic ?

If he stopped passing to feet or behind players then maybe but until he stops needlessly slowing down the game then no.

Lolwut?

Are you even watching Euro 2016? Rooney has consistently crossed and assisted in through balls to our strikers. He's also been a tank as the opposition find it hard to get through him.
