From the replay, I can't see what else Sterling wants frankly, he slowed, it was a yard or so infront of him, you want to pass that ball infront of the player running in or it ends up behind the player.
I would say that was mostly Sterling at fault, could have been a marginally better pass, but not much, or a completely different pass to Rooney, but I can't see how Sterling couldn't hit that ball.
It's basically impossible for England to fail to qualify. Look at the group... it's a joke. Top two definitely go through, then third place goes into a playoff (unless they're the best third place team, in which case they go through automatically). England and Switzerland are clearly the best two teams in the group, even if you think England are relatively poor.
