UEFA Euro 2016 - Semi-finals **spoilers** (6th & 7th July)

Pundits saying France were the better side. Not from what I saw. Germany could have had 4-5 if they could hit the target. Created plenty of chances.

not a chance at all of Germany getting that many, they hardly had a decent shot on target (Lloris made one decent save , low by the post, and the only reason that was difficult was because it was through a lot of players)

Germany's defence and midfield were brilliant for the most part, but the final 1/3 was terrible. Very like Utd last season, they were passing back and forth with ease, and even getting the ball back when they lost possession very easily - but they hardly stretched the French centre-halfs at all. in the final 1/3 they hardly produced anything worthy of their possession stats. In the 2nd half the game was a lot more even.

As for challanging Lloris, I doubt he broke a sweat all night. one decent save (as above) , the others were really "tv replay" saves that were not challanging at all.

If Giroud hadnt been selfish Griezmann would have (and deserved) his hat trick this morning. Penalty was nailed on, Schweinsteiger was stupid having his hand up that high.

FYI they have to hit the target to even deserve winning the game, so yes its kinda necessary to test the GK to "deserve " winning. and Giroud was in the penalty box heading towards goal so yes he was "near" the goal.

edit actually to be fair I think the Germans beat Lloris once when they hit the post, but considering this was in the last 5 minutes or so and they were already 2 down.....

What was happening with Thierrys face there when they said about Griezeman equalling his total.

...seriously?

He was jokingly wobbling his lip about his record getting equaled and the possibility of it being exceeded in the final.

Griezmann has been fantastic this tournament. Raised his value a bit surely.

just signed an contract ext to raise his "buyout clause" to ~£70m or so

Some rumours circulating that its just to get that kind of money for Atleti this summer, but somehow I think he actually does want to stay there (and who could blame him)

Wow.

Of course it does. France scored two, Germany none. I don't know what Germany were better than France at, but it wasn't football!

I can't tell if you are serious? If one team misses 50 great chances and plays the other team off the park whilst the other team wins via an own goal they were the better team...

It would depend on the manner of the own goal(obviously if a defender just puts it in under no pressure then it it nothing to do with the other team), but pretty much Yes. Why does everyone on here treat goals like they are unimportant?

This is nothing new. It has been the rules since forever. The best team is decided by who scores the most goals. Not who nearly scored the most, not who has the most possession, not who has the most shots... And it most certainly isn't decided just by people watching the game and giving their opinion...That would be ridiculous!

Maybe Germany passed better than France and had more possession, but they certainly didn't play football better than them. Football, the point of which is to score goals and not concede... Both of which they did better.

I'm not debating what wins a football match but who is the better team in a match is not closely related to the result at all. You can have a scoreline that doesn't reflect the game at all, you cannot have a scoreline that doesn't reflect the result.

you can indeed, however last night was not a (good) example of this

Germany had one or two "good" chances, by the same token France had nearly 1/2 a dozen
