UEFA Euro 2016 - The Final - Portugal vs France **spoilers** (10th July 2016)

Draxler had one very good game, he was pretty average against Italy and France though.

v s Ronaldo who was pretty invisible nearly every match - apart from the final when he actually was invisible :D

Not suggesting Bale should have been there either (and to be honest not sure Ramsey should have been either) but Ronaldo certainly didn't deserve to be there off the back of one really clever goal.

I mean he ended up with three goals and two assists, that's pretty good for an invisible player.

Given that the other two goals were nothing particularly special and certainly one assist was a bit of a fluke (in the goal actually going in, rather than the assist itself) - yeah in comparison to the "TOTT" terms, he was invisible

I see the FIFA rankings make even more sense. Belgium still 2nd, Wales ahead of England by only 30 points and Portugal 6th.

Yeah, that match Ronaldo scored 2 and assisted 1 iirc, doesn't count. It was his shot that led to the Quaresma tap in against Croatia, crucial to that goal. Scored in the penalties and got others to take penalties, gave them confidence to do so, against Poland. He scored then assisted Nani to take Wales out and he was pretty important in the final as a captain/leader. Commanding from the touch line as well as a team talk at half time, etc.

In terms of visibility he was huge in at least 2 games, influential in the Poland game and I've never seen a more visible player when off the pitch as he was in the final.

The difference is Portugal played on the back foot and Ronaldo had incredibly little of the ball. Wales had a lot of the ball and they gave it to Bale constantly, he kept shooting harmlessly from long range or generally running off on his own thinking he can take on half the team before losing it.

Ronaldo definitely had a decent tournament but he wasn't great by and means. The Portugal team was just very Stubborn and organised well in defence with a decent offence so they always had a chance against any team.
