Is booing by England fans whenever Italy touch the ball really necessary? So childish. I thought football nowadays is all about changing from the ways of old.

It's one of the reasons I loathe football compared to rugby.

Was at a couple of rugby matches recently where there were no away fans due to covid restrictions. The home fans decided to cheer and applaud every time the opposition made a break or scored. At the end the fans gave the visitors a standing ovation...and to the credit of the players they applauded the fans. Was a brilliant thing to see and be part of.

The booing didn't used to be a thing, but is now. England aren't the only ones who do it and it's only a small number of people, but it echos :/

So you don’t think this is a defensive setup?

I think it's an appropriate setup for the match and so far that's been borne out by what's going on. If we were sat on the edge of our box and playing for penalties then yes, I'd say it's defensive. As things stand, we've had Rice putting in tackles in the final third, Shaw and Trippier both cropping up in attacking situations for more than defensively, and even Walker bombing on when appropriate. So no, I don't think it's especially defensive. It's certainly not "embarrassing" as you put it.

And frankly, if we win 1-0 I'm fine with that. This team and Southgate will have achieved more than any other England team for over half a century.

Mel Ready :

Steady flow of ticketless fans were still rushing into stands when the opener was scored. Aisles so full, stairs blocked and the disabled area in front of the press box is packed. Paying supporters pleading with helpless stewards to get them out. Kids scared, seats stolen. Unsafe

How have they underestimated this so badly? The stairwells seem packed. I’ve noticed the camera is being kept off the crowd.

Its a worse case scenario but if there is anything terror related or a crush/stampede then these unticketed "fans" is going to be a major issue

Yeah as soon as I tuned in I could see the lower tiers are filled with more fans than seats.

Strange because I'm sure I read a statement from the police saying there was no breach but I can't seem to find it now. Few videos doing the rounds of fans forcing their way into the stadium concourse.
