I'll get flamed for this but I was praying for no extra time. The game was pretty boring.
It did have an element of end to end but it was pretty scrappy. However the commentators would have you believe that every single pass was a gift from God himself.

They have you believe that two super skills met and we had a good competition, I felt we had to teams that were making a fair amount of errors and don't look unbeatable.

But I know no one will agree with me. I'm always pessimistic.

I wondered if the commentators were watching a different game, couldn't see the excitement at all.

Was surprised it went to penalties but Spain were lucky to even be in the semi.

I think the thing was Spain knew what they needed to do to blunt Italy's edge while Italy were content to sit back and use game management to maintain an equilibrium waiting for Spain to mess up to push their counters. Which overall made for a quite tame game as a spectator sport unless you are really into the nuances of football despite some moments of flare and tension.

Pleased Spain are out and it was Morata, got sick of him cheating. Holding his face when he got hit in the side etc. I wish they would clamped down retrospectively on that stuff. I can take them doing it for a tackle but hitting the floor when there's no contact or a different contact area is just cheating. Didn't Rivaldo get a fine when he did that? Clutching his face when the ball hit his body?

I had to laugh fairly early in the game when one of the players, can't remember who, over dramatically went over like a log trying to draw a penalty when the other player was a good foot or so from actually making contact with them and the referee just rolled his eyes.

We could but I don't see what there is to be worry about. At home to 60k fans, the players seem focused, calm, happy and enjoying playing.

On paper England beats Denmark even though they're a solid side. I think a slip up would be a surprise considering the feeling around the squad at the moment.

I can see why anyone who has been an England fan for more than a few years would be nervous though.

Well yeah, we've played Denmark twice in the last year with a draw and a loss :p

I suppose you could look at it that we're due a win this time :D

Denmark are a strong side, and the media frenzy makes it sound like a given we'll beat them. I don't think we can say that, if anything it just incentivises them to prove a point against us. Tonight will be a tough match, and we should just concentrate on that one before turning our attentions to Italy. It's all moot if we don't beat the Danes.

Denmark are a good side but we have better players to a man (maybe not our keeper) and then pretty much our entire bench would walk into their team as well. If we lose tonight it will be entirely our own fault.

I'm sure the players are concentrated on tonight 100%, we can focus on whatever we want because we make no difference to the outcome of the game.

Would be exciting to be in the final of a Euros at any rate. I might be in Wales for the final as well.

That says more about how bad the Italians have been in recent matches, having to win on pens against a poor Spanish team.

Southgate has handled the media really well, the whole team look focused at the job in hand. Only the fans are dreaming about the final, which is understandable.

My predictions Denmark win 2-1 in extra time after we have gone 1-0 up and sat back, Croatia style. Kane to go AWOL and do nout of importance all match, a defender to get sent off for something really innocuous due to biased ref and poor VAR, and Pickford to flap like a chicken as the ball sails past him. As usual, go prove me wrong lads. I really would be delighted.

Half the time I reckon people are just negative about every game so they can say I told you so if we lose. It's like some kind of coping mechanism and the classic case of English pessimism.

I am no great fan of Southgate and it was hard work early on, however, momentum is building now and we do have a very good squad.

Denmark are a good team, but they are more like a mid-table Premier League side, where as England are more of a top 8 Champion's League team.

Of course, as we know in the PL, any team can beat any team, but there are reasons for optimism. Beating Germany will have removed a significant mental block, and we look fairly robust defensively.

We can swap out the entire midfield and attack and should still be able to beat not only Denmark, but probably Italy.

Far from any guarantees, of course...

It's been said a thousand times here before, but it's the fact Southgates got them playing as a team that I think has helped us. I was watching an interview with Ferdinand, Gerrard and Lampard a few days ago about why they thought their own 'golden generation' failed and they put it down to not being forced out of their 'Club' mentality at any point. Having watched a lot of the training camp videos for the current squad, you can absolutely tell this isn't an issue at the moment and you have to assume Southgate and his team are behind it. I think that's one of the reasons we have to fear both Italy and Denmark, the former have great chemistry by default and the latter have possibly the best reason to band together.
