UEFA Euro 2024 Warm Ups & Friendlies ** spoilers ** [3rd - 11th June 2024]

I still just think we have too many 10s. With Kane up top and dropping in, we can't have Foden and Palmer off him - you end up with all three stood on top of each other. If Kane plays, which he will, we need to prioritise players who will go beyond him, namely Saka and Gordon. Rice obviously has to play, and I'd argue that Foden deserves a shot in his best role at 10, so the question is do we play Bellingham or Mainoo in a double pivot. Bellingham is the better player, but it's a less natural position for him.

Tldr, I don't see any way to get all of Kane, Bellingham, Foden and Palmer in the team, and arguably think we'd be best off with only two of them starting.

Trent been Englands best player last two games, should have earned a starting spot but won't as he's too exciting for this dull back, side passing drivel.

Could even see it on the pitch with the other England players, first look was for Trent, just all went to him.

Yep, he's got to start at right back, offers so much more than anyone else. Yes, he's not as good defensively as Walker, but we can't defend anyway so I'm not too concerned about weakening us a little more! Stick Gomez at left back unless Shaw is fit - he's had a whole season of filling in while Trent goes forward.

Shouldn't be doing much defending in the group games, maybe Denmark will be better. Walker offers nothing against teams that don't attack.

Dear o dear.
What's worse, the England team or the commentators doing au turn before and after the match.

Talk it up beforehand then say how is a good learning curve and good for experience on how to break down teams that like to defend.

News flash. You didn't learn how.

Or England are in fact overrated as usual? Just like the "golden generation", all that PL hype and yes some talent, but ultimately still an English mentality of fear and weakness.

I can agree with you on the mentality front, but a team with foden, bellingham, kane, saka and rice are top tier players.

And the mentality starts with the manager. You telling me pep would have put out the mediocre display last night?

The manager is overrated. He is Championship level at best. Every time he comes up against a team with similar talent and a better manager we lose. Put a top class manager in charge and this squad could really do something. There are winners throughout the squad.

Can someone explain to me why Ivan '4 goals a season' Tony is in the squad?
He's the most similar player we have to Kane. Bringing in Watkins requires a fairly sizeable change in style from the rest of the team to get the most out of him. Fairly obvious innit?

He also made four defensive clearances within 15 mins of coming on, which I think is more than anyone else managed the whole game.
