UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL ... Benfica v Chelsea ... *** Spoilers ***

That's because the majority of Chelsea fans on here aren't biased beyond the point of excreting the colour red.

But you are? I wouldn't say you're bias, just slightly unstable. Every time you post it's hysterical nonsense. There's a few people on here that talk crap (I'm sure some think the same about me) but you're the only person that comes across as a raving nutcase every time he posts.

I can guarantee you that Terry lifting the cup raises your blood pressure (quite clearly) more than Lampard's. He could not give the smallest **** that Terry lifted the cup - they're lifelong friends and have played together for YEARS. They actually lifted the cup together and Lampard was wearing the captains armband so you're talking blinkered rubbish again.

You just come across like a bitter jealous Liverpool fan who winces at the sight of Chelsea success. Additionally, No reply on my Rooney point I see?

Terry has every right to lift every competition we win - he's the club captain and Chelsea through and through. Get over it.

Also agree with everything DM said (minus the hating Chelsea part...)

edit: note to whichever Don picks up Baz's rtm - It could be worse, he could be Purdy.

Terry lifting the trophy doesn't raise my blood pressure one bit - I find it funny that they guy has not one ounce of shame. He single handedly nearly cost you a place in the Champions League final through nothing less than being a complete moron and then had the cheek to go on Sky and defend his actions. Then to make things worse, despite his best attempts to knock you out of the CL, he didn't feel remotely uncomfortable going up to collect the trophy.

As I said yesterday wasn't as bad in isolation, it was simply the fact that he's done it again. You'd have thought that after last time he'd have a bit of humility and let Lampard have his moment. I know plenty of other captains have done so previously and many that would do so still.

And what is it with Chelsea fans trying to make a rivalry with Liverpool? We don't care about you.

Very few people have let a non captain lift a trophy, its usually when a captain on the night lets the club captain lift it(Garry Monk/AShley Williams, there is no question at all that Ashley Williams is the real captain of that team, but on history Garry Monk got the chance, in this case there is no question that Terry is the real captain of the team), the only exceptions I can think of to these are guys who have been at the club a while and been through a lot, like Abidal or guys in a similar situation.

As for Benitez, points total doesn't matter, he took over when CHelsea were 3rd in the league and ridiculously closer to Chelsea, RDM 7 wins, 2 losses 3 draws iirc, Benitez 14 wins, 5 losses 6 draws I think(I did the numbers last week). He hasn't improved Chelsea at all, and the team hasn't actually looked one iota different from before or after Benitez, the same players play, the same formation, tactics, defending, style, nothing has changed frankly, at all. Despite the idea he'd reignite Torres, he still sucks in the league and has done ok in Europe, because much of the opposition is weaker.

Benfica are good, but no where near great, Chelsea were strong favourites and frankly any top four team should walk the Europa league, that a couple English clubs didn't a couple years ago when they had the chance was simply embarrassing.

He's changed nothing, done nothing, just overseen the existing team playing the existing way with the existing players.

I think more than anything with several new players, Chelsea weren't likely to win the league this year, with Hazard and Oscar with a year under their belts, and a top striker, they'll be very strong next year.

The team were FAR less defensive in this cup win than the last one, but that is for many reasons, firstly RDM took over a struggling team and didn't have a preseason, nor any time, nor as strong a squad to do much, secondly, Barca, Bayern, Benfica don't even slightly compare. Before RDM got fired they were a significantly more attacking team than last year, in Europe and the league, it was pretty much his mandate to make the team less pathetically defensive and did a decent job, helped by the style of player the club bought.

I see the Green Eyed Monsters are out in force again :p

It wasn't our best performance by any means but at the end of the day it's knockout football and you simply have to win, obviously.
Sometimes you come up against better sides on the night and only other qualities like resilience and determination get you through, many times I hear fans of teams like Arsenal (for instance) moaning that they can't handle it when it gets tough yet those same fans moan about the quality of football when other teams just batter out wins when they are either outplayed or just not clicking.
Then there's people knocking Chelsea's style of football yet saying we should keep hold of Interim as he's got the tactical skillz, dumb.
On the subject of Interim he's probably achieved the minimum he could reasonably be expected to, just scraping in to the top 4 after being nailed on when he took over & winning the Plate out of all the other comps he had a shot at isn't really successful although it could've been worse.
Still, as fans we all want to win and get silverware and Chelsea are winners

It's an annual event and you would have thought they'd be used to it by the now. They'll be out in force next year when their trophy cabinet is bare again. :p

Still, as fans we all want to win and get silverware and Chelsea are winners

.... and will be winners for a long time to come.

I'll post some pictures tomorrow as I won't be back from here until tonight. :D

Who's supposed to be jealous? Pointing out you've been outplayed the last couple of finals (and semi-finals) you've been in doesn't really class as jealousy, more like, erm, well, football discussion...?

Chelsea haven't deserved to win the CL or EL on merit necessarily but its quite rare the best team wins. In knockout competitions in just takes a bad performance from your team or an epic one from the opposition to end it all.

Banfica are a good side and looked really up for it. On another day they would have pasted Chelsea but the filp side of that is that Chelsea can do the same to most team when they are on form. Anyway, part of winning is winning without playing your best.

As a United fan I really get frustrated that we win things without playing well but thats the key to long term success. Both Chelsea and City have arguably played better football and more of it than we have yet we won the league at a canter. You always needs a bit of luck but over the course of long competitions, any team that wins it will have deserved it in some capacity. Its hard to win the EL or CL without beating good sides.
