UK Kinect price

That price is plain ridiculous, you could buy another games console for that! Unless the games blow me away I don't think I'll be buying one anytime soon.

At least the prices over GBP/USD/EUR are comparable unlike another console manufacturer I could mention.

Sorry confused me, MS are milking it Sony arent? For 2 players you need one Kinect priced at £129.99 or a Move starter pack, 2 navigation controllers and one motion controller with a combined price of £134.96. It seems to work out cheaper to me.

Both are overpriced, but lets not pretend Sony are any better.

Same with every gadget early adaptors get shafted, in a year both will be half the price they are now
But the difference with Sony, is that you can give it a try at a ow cost to see if you like it, then grab the rest of the bits if it's a winner.
I'm a good example, I already have a PS Eye, so all I'm getting is 1 move controller, which I'll use in tandem with a standard pad. If I like it, I'll invest in a navi controller, if my gf likes it, I may even invest in another set for her.
If I don't like it however, I'll sell it on and maybe make a £10 loss on it.
With MS, you're risking £130 on something you may not like at all, I'm risking £100 less than that.
In short, you're a million times more likely to impulse buy a Move controller than a Kinect camera.

What nonsense. If you don't like it, take it back within 14 days for a refund.

Seems expensive but when compared to all other peripherals is probably about right.

Not really, a Wii was what, 170 on release? For a peripheral I don't think its worth it. I think it will be great, but definitely waiting for a price drop.

The Wii was great but novelty wears off. I expect the same of move/kinect.

I haven't mentioned a Wii...

The equivalent PS3 Move controllers for 2 players comes to £135. That's more expensive than Kinect. If you buy either of them and try them you can return them if you do not think they are worth the money. Why would Microsoft bother selling Kinect much cheaper than what their competitors are selling their product for...

Return them to where? Retailers tend not to accept things back unless there's an actual fault, you can't just say "Meh, didn't like it, refund please".

Where they were purchased. If online, return in the cooling off period (at worst paying minimal postage to do so). If on the highstreet, if you must, by making an excuse... i.e. bought as a present for someone etc etc. Simple.

This isn't overpriced when compared to similar products on the market. Yes, the entire market is overpriced but that's hardly Microsofts fault!

Working in retail myself (sadly), you can't return things if they've been opened and aren't faulty.

It's too expensive
It won't take off.
The market it's aimed at already own a Wii so it's a terrible business model
and for that reason, I'm out.

I think anyone would be mad to preorder one at the moment without actually having played it or waiting to see what games use it and some reviews.

It is a lot, but then at the sametime I was thinking that last Xmas, DJ Hero launched and the special edition of that was something like £130-140. Obviously prices dropped significantly in the New Year, but that was a controller that can only be used with one game!

I'd imagine they will review the price based on how well it initially sells, as its clear that Microsoft has put a lot of money into the Kinect, so it would be silly if they priced it out of the market and nobody is going to bother developing for it.

Kinect is going to fail massively against Move simply because of the price. It's like Microsoft has forgotten they are supposed to be competing with it.

I think with Kinect they(MS) think they are out there on the own-some with some product that neither the Wii or WiiHD(Move) can compete against. I will be surprised if it sells by the bucket loads and not surprised if it falls by the wayside.

Personally the price is way too high, the cost of Kinect is damn near the same as the console itself and is more expensive than the Nintendo Wii (depending on where you shop).

There's no debating though, that people are buying into the whole movement gimmick and people are buying this overpriced monstrosity though.

Amazon UK are offering the Kinect at the retail price of £129.99 and the Kinect has already topped Amazon's best selling section for PC & Video Games.

Like I said, it's way too expensive for me to even entertain the thought of getting one. There will have to be a huge, huge, outlay of Triple A titles on the Move and on the Kinect before I part with any money.

My major gripe with the Wii is they're too family orientated and way too casual in style. If they can get something like Fight Night or Gears of War to work (properly and not a dodgy port) then we shall see...

I think the price is pretty much what I was expecting to be honest. I cant see it failing, all 'proper' gamers slagged off the Wii, they still do but that seems to be doing OK.

Personally im not a fan of the Wii, but my lad loves it so ill no doubt get talked into buying this on launch as well.

Having just seen the price I have to say £130 is way too high even bundled with a game it's too much, this is yet another example of companies taking the pi$$ out of us just like the music/movie/game industry, take digital game downloads like steam most of the prices on there are a joke most games can be bought on disk from a shop with all there overheads like manufacturing/distribution costs, anyway back on track, with something like kinect yes there may have cost loads to develope but if it's priced right they will sell loads of them making a little less per unit but making a killing on the games and selling the rights for others to make games for it making much more money in the long run, GREED will wreck kinects chances I was going to get 3, 1 for me and one each for my 2 kids but @ £130 I don't think so. Microsoft get real this will only take off if you lower the price to something like £50-70 @ £130 I think it will become just another HD-DVD and having already been burnt once, well let's just say I won't be placing even one pre-order, after Xmas it will more than likely be heavily discounted anyway...
as for the bundle with a 4Gb 360s still way over priced for the sake of having 1 more mains socket being used for kinect i'll stick with my fat 250Gb super elite

Kinect is going to fail massively against Move simply because of the price. It's like Microsoft has forgotten they are supposed to be competing with it.

The initial price point of each does give the immediate impression that the Kinect is WAYYY over-priced. However, for a 2-player experience with Move, your looking at spending £135 to get yourself 2 Move controllers, 2 sub-controllers and the eyetoy camera. Whereas with Kinect, you only need to buy the 1 item @ £130.

$150 and bundle for $300 over here, with the 4Gb standalone being released for $199...might be tempted to pick one up now they support USB flash drives so the HD isn't as important but will see - it's a lot of $$s still when you have to buy games on top etc
