UK Kinect price

The initial price point of each does give the immediate impression that the Kinect is WAYYY over-priced. However, for a 2-player experience with Move, your looking at spending £135 to get yourself 2 Move controllers, 2 sub-controllers and the eyetoy camera. Whereas with Kinect, you only need to buy the 1 item @ £130.

You know, considering the multiplayer aspects of both, that's a pretty good point to make. I still think first impressions count for a lot though, so when a typical person walks into the shop and sees £130 on Kinect and £50 on Move, it can't help much... (it's an eerie comparison to the bad old days of the PS3 costing twice as much as a 360 that otherwise wouldn't have been kitted out with the same featureset)

Aye but for new customers when told a 360 4GB + Kinect and full game is £199 yet a PS3 + Move is £299 (using the controller as the subcontroller) and an extra controller and subcontroller for 2 player, and you don't get a full game bundled it gets more interesting.

Not really, enless the customer doesn't know what they're buying.

Where can you get the 360 4GB + Kinect for £199 (assuming it is not a competitor)? Sounds like a bargain, buy bundle, sell Kinect for £100, cheap 360 arcade.

I don't think either will shift cansoles tbh, and imo Kinect has far more pressing issues than the price...

Oh and dont forget the price of the sofa so you can sit on while playing move, not needed for kinect ;)

When I first heard about kinect I honestly thought it would be more expensive than it is. Maybe im just really behind in tech these days but I thought it was pretty impressive.

Is it not pretty revolutionary technology though? Some of the crap that will be come out on release date looks a bit lame but future software could be amazing.

Zavvi are now doing Kinect (with Kinect Adventures) with either Your shape: Fitness Evolved, Dance Central or Sonic Free Riders for £134.95.

Going slightly OT for a sec - can the PlayStation Eye not do exactly what Kinect can do? (In theory, even better as it has a higher resolution camera?)

Yeah but where is the 360 Arcade with Kinect for £199? That is a much better deal.

The eye can only see a 2D plain like the MS camera and games like Totemball and You're in the movies.

Kinect has a 3D depth camera and a lot of clever software to track skeletons in 3D.

That's why Kinect can handle things like bowling as it follows your arm front to back etc.

I've read the reason the Kinect camera is the resolution it is, is because of the USB 2 bandwidth restrictions.

It looks like that'll have a rrp of £249.99.

Ah, as you posted:

I thought you had a found a good deal somewhere. Searched everywhere to no avail!!!

But can't the PS Eye do 3D by tracking the two wands?

I was thinking more specifically of the projection technology as featured in Ubisoft's Your Shape. Can't the Eye also do this as it's simply scanning you in as a silhouette?
