I’m wondering, with the Black Sea fleet hiding in port if the Ukrainians have mounted something like the iris-t to a small boat and are just sitting out of the coast waiting for targets?

Would make Russia job so much more difficult, as they would have to locate every small boat, make sure it’s aggressive not a fishing boat and target them all while their air and sea assets are at risk

This was posted in the last week. At a time of increased global tension, this series has unprecedented access to the fighter jets, war planes and service personnel at RAF Lossiemouth. Jet pilot Jake of 9 Squadron heads for NATO's front line to face off against three Russian jets. And rookie Harry bids to earn his wings and qualify for full operations.

33:06 mins - Ämari Air Base, Estonia and a scramble after a Russian aircraft is heading towards NATO airspace, which indentfies a Tupolev Tu-134 VIP jet and also two SU-27 flying escort 12 miles out from NATO airspace.

They stuck a HIMARS on a barge to hit Snake Island so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

Some has mused this recently, now starting to be said out loud.
It is going to be hard to keep all the rising nations down and stop them getting nukes now. The US thanks to the MAGAs has dropped the ball big time.
The dangerous talk has just reinforced how the US could so quickly end up as being totally unreliable.

If only Ukraine could just give up and let their people be assimilated for the good of the rest of us. Will they not think of the children our energy bills.

Not to mention that a condition of Russia's deal with North Korea and Iran for weapons and equipment could include helping them develop their own nuclear weapons programs.

Wow everyone is just threatening everyone and blaming the USA.
Another step down the wrong path.
I wonder if it's too late to turn around now?
Russia will just interpret all this as NATO expansion and nuclear proliferation.
Our allies in 2024 could easily be nuclear power enemies in the future.... What a great thing to strive for.
Trump when he wins will be a spoilt little brat and seek out to punish the EU somehow.
I can see some weird changes on political maps in the next few years.
I really hope the USA doesn't come running to save Europe from ww3.
Will be so embarrassing:p

To be fair, the US appointed themselves World police, It wasn't like anybody else had a choice in the matter.

Seems it was cool to be top dog telling everybody else what they can and can't do when the world enemies were goat farmers and jungle tribes, peer to peer conflicts not so much.

That's the danger of their inaction, every peer to peer war pretty much since WW1 that has dragged on has ended up with WMDs being deployed.

@Efour - I would imagine Europe will heavily step up defence spending since the USA has proven itself not to be a reliable ally (or at least one that can be bogged down in politics).

It can’t be too late to be turned around. It would be turned around tomorrow if the EU or US became directly involved in the fight.

off the top of my head, WW1 loved a gas mask, WW2 ended with a big boom, Vietnam was chemical weapon city, Iran-Iraq.

That's the point there hasn't been many peer to peer sustained hot wars, but when there are, they get messy.
