From Russian state news, an up to date list of troop losses

* Over 13,400 soldiers in Ukraine confirmed dead (this only includes registered Russian soldiers, so Wagner mercs, Chechen isis, African mercs, Syrian mercs and conscripts from Donetsk are excluded.

* Over 7000 still missing

* Black Sea losses: 116 confirmed dead from Moskva cruiser and over 100 still listed as missing

So basically over 30k losses just to turn Mariupol into rubble as that's the only significant bit of ground they've captured after 2 months
 
I can see Putin keeping a strong public image - but the `suicides` we have seen will only be the tip of the iceburg - he will realise how much he has been lied to.

He still has a lot of support with older Russians, a captive media, and a totalitarian state to deal with "troublemakers". Not sure that his public image is that much at risk. I wonder whether his fondness for having his subordinates assassinated will do for him at the end, surely there comes point where if you're a leading figure in Russia's government or military you realise that Putin is going to have you killed and you may as well go down fighting.

I think M270/HIMARS in addition to the mini-cruise missile should be on table for allow Ukraine to eventually threaten Crimean airbases if they can take back the southern oblasts.

He has support no matter the age. The folk I saw being asked is a wide range. From teenagers to little ones from kindergarden being used to promote this (not) war. It is absolutely disgusting to look at.
When I remember the teachers asking for increase of wages. The medvedev's(I think he was prime minister or president then) response was that they should have chosen business rather than teachingi f they wanted to earn more money. These are the same teachers that promote that they are on a good side towards Ukraine.
