From Russian state news, an up to date list of troop losses
* Over 13,400 soldiers in Ukraine confirmed dead (this only includes registered Russian soldiers, so Wagner mercs, Chechen isis, African mercs, Syrian mercs and conscripts from Donetsk are excluded.
* Over 7000 still missing
* Black Sea losses: 116 confirmed dead from Moskva cruiser and over 100 still listed as missing

So basically over 30k losses just to turn Mariupol into rubble as that's the only significant bit of ground they've captured after 2 months
I can see Putin keeping a strong public image - but the `suicides` we have seen will only be the tip of the iceburg - he will realise how much he has been lied to.

Not sure that his public image is that much at risk. I wonder whether his fondness for having his subordinates assassinated will do for him at the end, surely there comes point where if you're a leading figure in Russia's government or military you realise that Putin is going to have you killed and you may as well go down fighting.
