The Tom Clancy in me says Ukraine received credible and actionable intelligence from Western sources that Russia was about to deploy a flight of nuclear armed Backfires from that airbase and Ukraine destroyed them on the ramp. Just need Zelenskyy to troll Putin now by ringing him every hour on the hour to sing "We know what you're doing. We know what you're doing."
Well they got 2 but there were about 30 there

They shouldn't attack Russian soil at this stage this is asking for complete "trouble"
Need to be wound in a bit as sick as that sounds.
The Russians should probably be very grateful that the Ukranians have refrained (probably under orders) from lobbing nasty stuff at random civilian targets like they've been doing.

I'm pretty sure that yes they have been told and supplied weaponry without the capability and/or ammunition to attack longer range.
This isn't a war fought on western precision. Russia doesn't give a **** if they "accidentally" hit civilians.
Honestly this could have started 50x worse if they had known how terrible this was gonna go for them.
I still think it probably will end up at the worst outcome.
Go look up the blitz if you think targeting civilians is an effective war tactic.

It's not efficent to hit civilian targets, barely effects the army if at all - it is good PR for your opposition and bad PR for you.

Earlier today there was discussion on sending the US Abrams tanks to the Ukrainian's but I was told it would be difficult due to logistics, upkeep, maintenance and training required. These Leopard tanks would surely present the same challenges?
Seeing as their neighbor and closest ally has them I think the burden on the above points would be much much less. Not non-existent. however, much more manageable to the point of being viable. Poland and other Eastern European countries also have recent experience in converting from Soviet style tanks to the Leo's so lessons learnt and real world experience in that regard will be very valuable for Ukraine.
