Are my eyes fooling me or is this high tech SU-27 has a PDA attached on its screen and the pilot is flying with a smartphone on his hands? If this is the state of Russian air force then what can i say, not even a third world country is THAT bad, maybe except Afghani airforce, laughable
The original video is much higher quality: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-dez1FX6n8

I believe he doesn't pull his phone out to take a photo until he gets near the F-35 and Gripen, it must have been odd for them having an Su-27 joining their formation xD

As for the GPS unit he has fixed to the cockpit, that's quite common for Russian and other air eastern forces when flying non combat roles in old planes that haven't received upgrades yet. It was quite common in western air forces too back in the 90s/early 00s.

*EDIT*

Was he filming that on a helmet mounted GoPro? lmao

Non combat roles? Heck bro there is plenty video online of Russian planes and helicopters in Ukraine this year flying with gps tablets stuck to their dashboard

But Russian telegram channels claimed Russia was going to build new apartments for everyone within a month and that was several months ago

Meanwhile Putin is back in Belarus and this is an actual translation. Lukashenko takes pride in saying him and Putin are the most toxic and aggressive people on the planet and they have arguments between them to decide who is the worst

Around half of the Russian combat airframe losses (and the stuff shot down - but quite a few were ditched due to malfunctions, etc.) in the early part of the war, I've not kept up since, were basically 1970s spec with sometimes a GPS (GLONASS?) tablet stuck in there, etc.

That's very bizarre.

Putin doesn't seem entirely comfortable.

What weirdly written article! Almost written in a rather pro-russian vain. Also anyone know if they have actually been effective in any way?
Sure they would have posted videos of its success by now if so.

Eurasian times is a pro Russian /China outlet, was just reading how the f-35 would struggle against the latest russian aircraft, starts of saying the f-35 would wipe the floor on paper but digs down to find out Russia has super tech and thrust vectoring etc etc etc.

Total bs.

Thrust vectoring lol, the pro Russian argument for the su-57 is that it's more manoeuvrable than the f35. And that is true in a close range dogfight but the F35 is not a dogfight plane, it's a stealth stand off fighter/bomber. What they forget to tell you is that the f35 and its interconnected network systems is able to detect and track targets 800km+ away and it carries air to air missiles with a 1200km range.

They also forget to tell you that Russia has hardly any su-57's because it can't afford many and no one else is buying them putting the entire program at risk of collapse like the t14 armada just did. Unlike the F35, which the Americans are building 15 of every month

Exactly, it's not Top Gun: Maverick, there really shouldn't be a situation in this modern age in which fighter jets are spinning about in the air, dogfighting. It suggests something has gone seriously wrong in the planning phase of the mission, and if it was highly likely anyway they would send the air dominance F-22.

I imagine in some unlikely event they send B-21 Raider to clear out key SAM, radar sites, creating a corridor of air space for F-22's to move in. F-35 for mass bombing runs thereafter I guess.
