The Russians seem to have a fairly useless IFF presumably in part due to GLONASS being... trash.
The Soldier X (maybe a relative of yours? :P ) interview said that Russian units are efficiently using IFF at a level that his Ukrainian units are finding hard to match even in static defensive positions.

I struggle to see how a nuke would cause the kind of damage the propagandists dream about

For reference the Japan 2011 Tsunami which ended up doing significantly less damage than Russia claims it can do to Britain, was caused by the release of 500 megatons of energy and that is 10 times larger than the biggest nuke built by the ussr/Russia and 33 times bigger than largest Nuke built by USA

This is one of the dumbest posts I've seen. No wonder you would lap up everything the mainstream says.

May be because a nuclear bomb wouldn't target the ocean.

Except he is talking about the claimed nuclear torpedo that Russia claims to have.

Which by definition of a torpedo. Is in water, therefore will be detonated there.

There has been plenty of propaganda around Russia using it to drown the UK earlier during the Ukraine conflict.

So it isn't a stupid post.

I seem to recall at the start of the full invasion the propagandists wetting themselves with excitement saying Russia had some super nuclear torpedo that could be detonated near the UK coast and would cause the UK and Ireland to be washed away by a giant wave.

There are rumours their building a giant nuclear stealth type seagull that will peck us to death after screeching us to deafness with a 200 decibel screech.

I remember that they had those in South Shields already. Turns out you don’t need anything radioactive, just have 2 Gregg’s within 100 yards of each other on the high street. The seagulls grow so big off discarded sausage roll and steak bake bits that they become unstoppable!

I watched an interview last night on BBC News 24 with some Russina defense minister. It was just comical. Almost Comical-Ali levels of denial.
All I learned from it is that the western casualty figures for Russian casualties are out by a factor of 100. That 10 times more Ukrainian soldiers are killed than Russin. That NATO is a cancer on the world and that Russia is saving the world from NATO imperialism.

Yea, Hardtalk with Stephen Sackur, Karaganov was just ridiculous. I wonder if they actually believe the garbage they spout or if they are just enjoying the wind up

RUSI estimates 230,000 dead or wounded russians and 100,000 ukrainians (almost the entire UK armed forces personnel) and 30% more than the entire British Army.

I wonder if they have given them any upgrades? 105m canon, no ERA, chassis design from the 60's, it makes you wonder how well these will stand up to the riggers of modern warfare.

Vs a modern MBT not that well
But as added "weight" to infantry support, vs pretty much everything other than MBTs they are going to be pretty useful
Dug in to defensive positions they will be pretty handy as well.

Makes you wonder if there is much ammunition about.
I suppose it wouldn't be "hard" to get up to spec modern variants of UK based 120mm scaled down if needed.
(Leopard 1 has a rifled barrel unlike the smoothbore of Leopard 2)

The A5 variant could take the 120mm so maybe they will work on that as well.
Depends what they have in mind I guess. I mean if its just having more support available near the front lines so they can call in tank support against eg enemy holed up in buildings its going to be more than enough to give the added firepower.

There were upgrades available, and I assume they could easily add some of the "bolt on" types that all the modern MBTs use. So again upcycling current tech.
