Some interesting news re: the assassination of the blogger/former fighter (he was a Russian speaking Ukranian serving time for a bank robbery back in 2014 when the Russians freed him from prison, he then fought for them).

Probably some combination of needing to keep troops to defend their borders whilst also not having anything like the forces they claim to have.

The border guards are internal troops under the FSB, you don't need the regular army for border-related stuff. Aside from perhaps air defence I doubt there is a fully equipped modern (by Russian standards) combat brigade being kept out of Ukraine, especially given the equipment shortages and I've not seen anyone post anything to substantiate that claim.

Interesting from NATO, seems like Russia's position to be making demands is getting weaker by the day hence what NATO are now saying about Ukraine joining.

Once the conflict is over?

Didn't think a country in conflict was able to join, the result would then put NATO and therefore its members at war with Russia, that would be a big escalation.

Documentary style video of the T position operation uploaded - will need to auto-translate. Has a fair bit of extra information as to what was going on.

Correct, once the conflict is over. As part of a settlement Russia wanted Ukraine to rule out ever joining NATO.

He was from the russian speaking Donbas, yeah. Just a career criminal who saw an opportunity and grasped it.

"Some of the cameras on the path of Daria Trepova appeared to be switched off between 08.00 and 18.40. At the same time, she may have been meeting someone in the 'dead zone'."

How convenient. Who would have the kind of access and authority to switch off public surveillance cameras at will? Not hard to figure out this is high level stuff.

Contrary to popular misconception NATO does not have a requirement for members to go to war with an aggressor who is attacking a NATO member, the requirement is only for NATO members to "aid" a member who is the victim of an attack but it is donw to them to choose the aid they provide (It was set up this way so the USA had no obligation to actually get involved in a third major European war should it kick off). As a result even if Ukraine joined NATO tomorrow not much would really change as NATO members are already providing aid to them.

The sheer numbers of Causalities dont add up to `partial deployment` of units. The observed number - from Russia themselves was 170 BTG (each around 1000 soldiers) at the start of 2022 for the entire Amry, with 110 deployed to Ukraine. So on paper the force was 170,000>190,000 total personal from all branches in voled

So with 110BTG`s available at the start (numbers from RUSI and other sources) , these were thrown into the meat grinder and casualty rates were up to 900 a day - thats a BTG per day in casualities. As Perun said last year, Russia started a force regeneration 6 months afetr the invasion (emptying prisons for Wagnar and the 300,000 called up). 5 months on and another force regeneration , another 200,000 being called up (possibly 500,000), but given the short fall first time around, Russia wont get the men needed to force regen.
