Well I suspect more will come clear over the next few days.. it should be interesting to see some satalite images of what/how fast the military responds to block off Moscow. That would be a tell tale on the military opinion of it.

Having a coup against you, especially one with serious military might and public backing is surely a great way to make yourself look really weak. I cannot imagine that Putin would think it an option. Even it happening at all eats into his credibility.

He would point at the root cause of the nazism being Wagner to his surprise then blame it all on Wagner.

If they are loyal enough to die in mass trying to assault Ukraine, you think they must be more reliable than a PMC made up of convicts.

I do feel for the Russian people, doing their daily lives and being crapped on by Putin and his cronies before being frogmarched to their deaths.

Watch when the FSB start running - that's when you know they think they have lost control..

This is a coup alright, I've been saying for months its been coming.

Prigozhin has had Putin in his sights for a long time now.

The videos he's been putting out over the last month or two were a direct challenge to Putin

I'm more concerned what this means for Ukraine. On the surface it looks good, Russians killing Russians, Putin will have loyalists because he has money to buy them, Prigozhin has his mercs because he also has money to buy them.

But when the dust settles and theirs a winner, if its Wagner what way will they go with Ukraine? If Prigozhin wins will the Russians currently in Ukraine follow him or will they just see it as a way out of this war.

I don't really see a downside here for Ukraine, I just hope they don't negotiate their rights to Crimea away if this ends with peace talks which I also think is inevitable if Prigozhin comes out on top.

Equally Ukraine could keep the faith and win it all back, this will be a very much a weakened Russia with no proper leadership if all goes well, the support will dry up and hopefully their troops in Ukraine will suffer serious ammo shortages.

This is a big change in the war now, the next week or two will no doubt tell us a lot more.

Why? The russian people are not Westerners. They think differently to us. Just because they are 'white' doesn't make them the same as us. I've worked with a bunch of 'proper russians' and they think we are the poor laughing stock just as we do them.

Perhaps. I know most see strength and money as an attractive attribute, and they don't give a damn about how it's achieved. However in the long run it's a scar that will run deep, along with every scar in their history is mostly of their own making.

Questions is. Will russia splinter?
