So Russia is putting its forces on combat exercises along the Ukrainian border, pretty much how the Russian invasion of Crimea began. Is Putin really going to invade the rest of Crimea, or is this a distraction from the annexation of Crimea which is due to complete on Sunday with the staged referendum. The rule of thumb is that to predict Putin, just be a pessimist - so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a full scale war start soon.

Meanwhile in western liberated Libya...The libyan PM has been forced to flee. The army and airforce is divided in loyalties, the Islamists are taking control and the oil rich East wants to become independent of the west as the oil tankers from north korea shore up and take a load home...

All of which is very interesting, but nothing to do with Ukraine. Or have I missed something?

Directly nothing. Indirectly an example of how western backed radical regime change has actively destabilised the country, the military, everything. But also how quickly the western intrusion can bow out and watch the country implode, do little about it and report it even less in the mainstream media.

It would be interesting to know if the Ukranian rebels or ultra nationals were given a nod, a wink or a push and from whom at a point in time whete the then leader was about to sign a Russian loan etc. And also understand how through a stand offish supporting stance the west allowed radicals to storm the elected leadership with (to my knowledge) legitimate elections previously and a new election due next year.

another (longish) but interesting read, this time on Ukraine and Russia.

You guys would be amusing if you weren't so pathetic. While you're busy complaining about the "mainstream media" and enjoying your freedom of speech, Russia is arresting opposition leaders, it's shutting down sites and it's taking further steps to control of the media.

How do you even begin to compare what's happening in the West (good or bad), with the hell hole Russia is slowly but surely becoming?

Yeah its amazing how theyre always encouraging people to think for themselves against the 'mainstream media', but when the Ukrainians do it against a government that is usurping their freedoms, theyre suddenly 'western backed puppets'. Its almost like theyre clueless and have to rely on conspiracy websites to help them form an opinion.

So if the people don't like a decision their democratically elected government make then its ok to uprise and viva la revolution.

That's anarchy.

They have a right to protest. And when a hundred of them are executed by the people paid to protect them it is indeed ok to uprise and thrown out the elected government. The legitimacy of any Govt. is not an unalienable right between elections.

Do you mean this gem from Russia Today?

The FSB spies on Ashton who hears it from the Estonian Foreign Minister who heard it from an Ukrainian doctor who denied it all?

No, I think it's clear that you're the one who missed an extremely important part of the news story.

It's the people's right, nay duty to protest if they don't like a decision their democratically elected government makes. Remember - just because people voted for you doesn't give you the right to rule by diktat for X years.

People holding the government to account isn't anarchy, it's democracy.

Something tells me it wasnt 'missing', but rather 'selective viewing'.

I think you should move to Russia and at the next elections vote against Putin.
Make a real difference.
