Looking at the quality of the captured Russian equipment of which there have been several videos and pictures online; makes me think that maybe Russia's nuclear weapons aren't as operational as they would like to have us believe.
BMPs, Tanks, Plans, Helicopters etc. all from the 1970s and 1980s and not in a good state of repair.

I think you've only got to see that video with the exchange between Putin and his spy chief to see that he's likely surrounded by yes men who are only telling him what he wants to hear, so it's likely what Putin thinks is going on and what's actually going on lower down the chain has a bit of a gap between them.

Someone was saying that on one of the news channels last night in years gone past it was Putin surrounded by his officials and it was like a group meeting everyone was sharing their opinions and it was like a politburo, the most recent videos all thats changed its Putin and statue-like officials who don't dare contradict him who even look terrified - and at a distance (rumours say he's terrified of catching covid and basically holed up in the kremlin and no-one gets close - even his meetings with foreign leaders are separated by an enormous table)

old yes but not in a good state of repair, why? they are rolling, they are firring, what more can you ask from old junk?

A Scot and an Englishman can both be called British because they come from an Island called Great Britain, it has nothing to do with ethnicity. By contrast Ukranians and western Russians can both be called European.

The point is, the main ethnic group of Russia is ethnic Slavs, the main ethnic group of Ukraine is ethnic Slavs. "Ethnic Russians" are not a thing, it's just a propaganda phrase Putin is using to try and make his **** stick because he knows it applies to damn near 100% of people in Ukraine as the two nations share a core ethnic group.
You seem to be a little confused...

You have the main 'Slavic' umbrella which includes, Russians, Poles, Ukrainians, Czechs, Serbs, Bulgarians, Belarusians,, Croats, etc. Within that you have 3 sub groups, West Slavs (Poles, Czechs and Slovaks), South Slavs (Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, Bulgarians etc) and East Slavs (Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians).

Within each of those sub-groups you have different ethnicities, so in the former Yugoslavia, while they all spoke pretty much exactly the same language you had ethnic Serbs, Bosnians and Croats et al. While they were all South Slavs their different ethnicities ultimately ended up in a war that led to the break up of Yugoslavia.

You are saying that Slavs are all the same ethnic group - which basically shows you do not have a clue what you are talking about. Just a bit of reading and searching on Google would dispel your ignorance but you will obviously refuse to do that and just double down on your ignorance.

The captured Tank I saw in one video looks like it was pulled straight out of Chernobyl, It could just be Ukraine propaganda, but most of the other Russian stuff looks utter crap compared to how brand new all the USA and UK stuff looked in Afghanistan.

Russian troops with grocery bags running down the street doesn't look good though, and it seems a lot of their vehicles are stranded with no fuel

Yeah, see the recent video where the head of the SVR seems to contradict Putin's message and then gets a big dressing down from him in front of all his other cronies...

If EU nations follow Estonia and ban all Russian planes form their airspace. That leave only a tiny corridor through the gulf of Finland for Russia to access Kaliningrad from the air. That certainly won't please them.

Hungary now supporting swift ban. Bad times for Russia now
I think Russia hoped they could have taken Kiev and "won" before any big response was finalised, thus negating the big response (as our politicians are spineless and aren't going to do something very mutually damaging after the fact).

I guess the Russian invasion wasn't, swift enough

If I was forced to like the Ukrainian men are, I wouldn’t have a choice.

That wasn't the scenario you were criticising them for though.

If you had been living in Ukraine as a British citizen for the last few years would you stay and fight with them or escape using your British passport?

TAnd I also worry about an (unlikely) retreat with an "accidental strike by Ukrainian forces" against Chernobyl, as payback to Ukraine and Europe.

Prevailing winds in the region would now blow any fallout towards Western Europe but towards Russia, the largest fallout would be in Belaraus and Ukraine sure, but Russia would also get a hearty dose. If there were hard fighting around Chernobyl then a genuine accidental strike could happen but a deliberate action by retreating Russian forces is not likely.
