Yep, shouldn't say pre-order only if it's in stock :p

Still not sure whether to get a couple of these to crossfire or wait until the 6970 is released.
I expect 5870 CF to perform better than a single 6970, at least in games that support crossfire well. But it is 'old' tech now, should I wait and invest in the 'new' tech as soon as it's out?
But I'm thinking that if I could wait long enough the 6970 would start being released with custom coolers, which would probably be nice.

I've already got 1 5870, but was going to buy 2 of these and crossfire them as I'd expect a better chance of avoid random crossfire issues and hopefully the coolers are better, which might be handy when running crossfire.
The alternative is to get 1 of these and crossfire with my existing card and then wait for 6970s with custom coolers and possibly lower prices (when demand isn't quite so high).

These prices just seem to good to pass up!

Im running 2 in crossfire. No issues atall here.

Last time I checked they weren't quite "old tech either"

I keep hearing about crossfire issues, but I can hand on heart say I have had no issues at all with any of the games I have played over the past year.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but most modern games with make use of it, and older games should be fine with the power of one card.

After much internal debating I've decided to drop the idea of buying one and instead choose between 6870 and GTX 470 :( Sorry OcUK. I promise if I want to buy the 6870 I'll get it here... can't say the same for the 470 though... I know a place :)
I hear 6870 does better in CF than 5870 even, I'd love to know how that works.

Pfft, they had to put a decent price on these!!! :(

Tempted to go Crossfire on them but limitations possibly?

Corsair TX 650W, thinking it could be JUST enough but maybe a bit too close for comfort.

gibbo do you think that the stock on the vtx 5870 will hold out for a week? because i cannot get the money untill then and i defo want to get one of those beasts?

think iv sorted out the water block situation, i just need to double check tonight once i have my card but basically these are non-reference pcbs and looking at the placement the EK-FC5870 V2 seems to be the one that fits.

at first i thought the pcb was modelled on a HIS design however the upper left capacitor placement and fan power are slightly different and now i believe this card is based on the Powercolor configuration, mainly because of the 10degree rotation of the fan socket.

hope that helps....like i said il double check all this tonight.
