People have paid £10k for far sillier things than a graphics card in the name of happiness and because they wanted it. How about a watch for instance?

Gigabyte windforce 2080ti cancelled. Gimping the power limit on the bios just to separate base model from other model stinks imo.
Alas given I am just jumping from one gigabyte card to another it's hardly a useful statement I am making
It is another sale for over clockers however that they would not otherwise have made

Yup. Somebody put an asking price on it and somebody else decided the asking price was acceptable. What if the asking price had been 10x as much... 10,000x as much...
Ultimately we all can and do put a price on our material possessions/acquisitions. The ceiling is both dictated by what we absolutely can/can't afford, but also by what we can/can't justify, and our priorities.
Would anyone here have bought a 2080 Ti if it had cost £50,000? That's absurd of course. But it shows that we can and do put a price on "squeee!" as you put it
The idea that satisfaction (I will not use the term "happiness" to describe acquiring material objects) is a feeling that you can't put a price on - that's what I'm saying is patently false.

Personally part of the enjoyment I get out of a product comes from feeling o got a good deal.
I bought the 2080ti despite this and it didn't sit well TBH. It's not about affording it and it could be I will spend 1k on a gpu next gen .
If I am honest instill don't feel like I am getting a good deal on the 1080ti either but I do want a new gpu

It was in stock through the night (my peak time) so I grabbed one.
My 980ti Gigabyte Windforce has been a monster for the last 3 years so no trouble going with them again.
I needed something with more kick to drive my 120hz ultrawide, and the 2080 just does'nt seem worth the extra outlay.
£200-300 for a none Aldi brand with a good UK warranty.
Was going to go EVGA then maybe use the step up in the new year, but would still end up shelling out silly money in the long run.
If this turns out a good leap over the 980ti, then I'm done for 2 years.
@Gibbo it would be good if there was a way to nominate a specific delivery day, I'm off work on Friday so want to get a 1080ti ordered to be delivered then, but I have to wait till Wednesday to order and hope the price doesn't change in the mean time
Ok thanks for that. I suppose other customers would have no way of knowing that was the case though until after they'd ordered

I changed my order to the MSI card which has been shipped today. £50 more but I think its worth it over the cheaper Gigabyte from the reviews I've read.
A watch gains value typically, certainly at those prices. But yes, I get your sentiment.
Yeah for 10% more it makes sense. I went Auros, only coz I have MSI before.
I can't find any reviews for the card from major reviewers, can you link them? Would love to read them.
Trying to found out the same thing. Someone mentioned earlier it's not a reference card, but I'm surprised considering it's not high-end.
