The pain in my jaw is becoming unbearable, i believe it's an abcess under a tooth because that's where it hurts the most. Came on so fast last night feels like someone using a pair of pliars on my gums :(. Can't do anything about it till tomorrow when dental line for emergencies is open!, I brush every day and this is the very first time i've felt anything like this.

Even put me off playing battlefield bad company 2, which is rare heh

If its an abcess they will probs give you antibiotics then after a week try to sort whatever the cause of the problem. Have painkiller put a dent in the pain.

I feel your pain, I broke a molar about 3 years ago after smashing my jaw on a curb, the tooth died and I experienced pain I didn't imagine possible, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, ended up having to go into hospital and then to the emergency dental clinic, they pumped me full of pain killers, filled every gap in the tooth which made the pain just about manageable, 2 days later I had it removed, dentist was surprised I had lasted as long as I had.

Brother had that.

He amused me saying he'd tried and tried to sleep through it but eventually thought enough was enough and grabbed a bottle of whisky, drank some, swilled some in his mouth like mouthwash.

Then his alarm went off - time for work. :)

He did go to the dentist and they sliced open his gum to drain it, and he went in on friday to get it all fixed up properly.

You can always go to A&E. At the very least they'll have painkillers and may have an Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon on call.

Oil of cloves works well if you have that. Or brandy.

Yeah if it's that bad the pain, A&E will be able to sort you out until a dentist can sort it properly. An abcess is horrible mate, can't eat or anything. I had one a few years back...

Tooth pain is the worse pain i have ever felt by a long shot, and its not quick sharp pain it is constant sharp pain, only drug that put any sort of dent in the pain for me was Nurafen PLUS, nothing else worked.

not had an absess luckily so far, also try swilling salt water in your mouth as this can numb the pain

I looked inside my mouth with a torch, it seems my inner cheek is almost covering my back tooth and swelling up. If i move it, to try and get to the tooth it's agnoy. The pain doesn't seem to be under the tooth but behind it trapped under the cheek. Feeling with my tounge, i have these lumps growing under the skin

Hope this helps you a bit, get some nurofen meltlets. These are the ones that melt in your mouth.

Place it against the gum of the tooth and use your tongue to rub it against the gum to melt it. I found that some of it gets absorbed there and helped take the edge off the pain.

I've had 3 of these buggers. 2 teeth saved after root canal treatment and a third that got yanked :S
