Under £700, racey 4 door hatchback?

Wonder what the difference between the GRi and SRi are.
I would have suggested the GTi but this is your first car, so let's be realistic :)

17 and first car?

Your perception of nippy will be very different from most people here. You will probably find something like a Fiesta 1.25 Zetec pretty nippy and more than sufficient for your first year.

Save the GTI's for later.

What? Where did I say that Lopez?

I said the 205 is unreliable!!
Ah, when I saw your post offering all the advice about the 205 I assumed you were recommending it. :) If a 205/309 is going to be unreliable then so is pretty much anything else quick for the budget. Even a Golf! ;)

Most people pay £1200 to £1500 to insure the slow models of the cars you are looking at, some even more such as agw paying over £2,000 for his 214.

If you are on such a limited budget to buy the car with, how on earth are you going to insure it?

Thats coz he lives in Manchester, not a good area tbh.

lol Ben, Gunchester... can't say I've heard that one before.

Chavchester is more appropriate.

Fenderbass, you've done it now. You said the R word. Soon, 3/4 of this forum will come down on you like a ton of bricks. But before they do, I'll add that I've owned 3 Rovers and have enjoyed every minute of ownership.

If you get the old Mk2 shape (before 1995) they're less prone to head gasket failure, are bigger inside, have a much bigger boot and are just built considerably better than the bubble shape models.

You can pick them up for peanuts too. I knew of a few mint examples going for under £400 a short while ago.

I was going to say thats not quite right, I'm in Manchester too and my insurance isn't that high, but I've just got a 214 quote..

Why are 214s so expensive to insure?
