Under £700, racey 4 door hatchback?

didnt say it was easy :) but there is enough room to do it and its been done many times as seen by 205 mi16;s etc, and you dont need to have a huge angle the main problem is the exhaust mainifold fouling the bulkhead , you can get an angled spacer to fix this and mount the engine more upright

How about a VVC powered Metro?

Or even better... T16 Turbo power  :D

Im have that project in my sights, well a 1.8 standard head k series with piper cams and a racing head, with a remapaple ECU. The 16V metros are quick, as in really quick, and also beleive it or not mg maestros. the 2 litre o series one is quick used to beat the golf gtis in the champion shipe we used to build one for.
Both will have your testicles for insurance i guess.

This is the beast that goes by the name of the Citroen AX

They're at different shape too...but they still use the exact same engine.

I didn't know they were that much lighter than the 205 either...

Yup same motor, rest different...

AX Much lighter...

Was a great lightweight car, the grasstrakers and rallyx boys loved em

yep. The AX GT was 1360 8v carbed, the GTi was 1360 injection IIRC.

I remember my uncle owning a GTi and It was really fast (I was only 15 at the time). Looked on Autotrader and couldn't find any. Pretty rare I assume (or perhaps all been written off)?

Looks like it - only 2 GTs on there and I thought these were common in comparison to the GTis!
