Uni Results

You get graded properly for first year?

Im still waiting for my results... they get posted on blackboard... sweating, dont want to resit too many during leeds festival week :p

Pretty much guaranteed a 2:1 in accounting and law. Surprisingly I did a lot better in the law modules then the accounting modules - mainly because I couldn't be arsed with accounting. I went to hardly any lectures and looking back on it wish I had put more effort in. In my last semester I went to 4 lectures and no seminars, such a waste of good tuition. All I did was cram 2 days before each exam and that was the only work I did all year, apart from coursework. f you know how to do exams you are pretty much guaranteed a 2:1 at uni. Had my last student night out last night and it was really emotional. Most of the girls were an absolute wreck (as in crying, not drunk - well maybe both). However, I think it's finally time for me to move on as some students, especially male first years, can be rather annoying. Can't moan about the girly freshers though!

I thought that, but ive been out more i my last year probably than second (maybe) just to more expensive places. I want to stay a student forever.

My housemates are now recruitment consultants and they go out in the week for a few beers and chill out but at the weekend its back to how uni used to be. Few beers in the house then out for a big night and the usual hangover sunday

Personally im working tomorrow (at 11am) but still going out later to meet people tonight after a good helping of vodka

I got my results about three weeks ago: I got a 2:1 overall. My 3rd year average was a 2:1 and my 4th year was a 1st. Those band averages and life's problems make all the difference, oh well I'm happy with the way things turned out :).

Congrats to all other graduates :).

Where are you going from here, SaBBz?
I've had my fill of physics so I'm looking into chartered accountancy, but the big firms are really hard to get into by all accounts (I also only got a C in English Language GCSE which they don't like), so I might look at general finance jobs. Investment banking is another option, but I'd prefer less stress (although that probably means less money!). What are you thinking of doing once you've finished university?

Accountancy is pretty damn dull - I have been doing the past 3 years. Most of my friends you have been accepted onto some of the better post grad schemes did business management. Probably one of the easiest courses at most universities but also one of the most useful!

I have decided to pack up my bags and move to Vietnam to teach english come September. Should be quite an adventure

What are you doing in HK? moving there on you're own, or with family etc?
Moving with the girlfriend. Her family all live there and her mum is in property management, so we have a flat sorted till we both find our feet. :)

Why do you ask?

just happened to randomly check the results this morn not expecting them for a while and managed somehow to get a first in computing science. Would have been expecting to just scrape a 2:1 so a nice surprise i guess. All I need now is a job!

Just wondering, cause I may get 2:2 aswell. Was seeing if you were doing some random work abroad thing or something that may have interested me :)

Management, possibly in retail. A huge category I know, but I'm very open at present. Don't really mind where so long as it's challenging, keeps me interested and lucrative (moneys largely what we work for at the end of the day). Siemens/Rolls-Royce are two options which are handy as they have a big presence locally (I'm from Nottinghamshire myself, although term-time I'm down south).

Huzzah, got the last of my results in, all 70+ :D. I got straight 70+ for all 6 units in the third year in BA computer animation.

Got my results yesterday - couldn't sleep the night before. Got offered a job with KPMG that stipulated a 2.1 minimum requirement. Although all my friends and family said I'd walk it, I was still nervous (probably even moreso because of that pressure!).

And I did it! Now got a 2.1 BEng... and a boring job :p

I really want my results :( I'm so nervous about it all

I emailed my lecturer the other day and he said they are posted out mid-July, my graduation is early July :(

So, if thats anything to go by, I'll be turning upto my graduation ceremony unaware of my grade

Congratulations to everyone who has got theirs by the way :D

I'd bet on it being a typo - most Universities would give results mid-June.

He's in America, its rare for people to get under 70% there :p :p

I'm American...but I'm studying here so I'm just trying to get used to the system...

And yeah 70% is a C...a pretty crap grade...60-70 is a D where much of the time you get credit for the class but need to take it over again...and anything below 60 is a fail.

Anyway I'm trying to get over 80% beginning Sept so that I get accepted into the Masters program...

My results are posted on 2nd of July I believe, and I won't be in the country. So I'll end up either phoning my mum for them; or I'll end up recieving a call from the other side of the world telling me I've failed, lol.

Kick in the nuts is that, even though I'll be in the country to do resits (I believe), I couldn't afford to go back up to Hull to do them. So either I'll be resitting modules/the years or becoming a member of the employed community :(
