I know CPU speed doesn't effect Heaven as much as 3dMark but does it still play a part do you know?

I'm about 9th on the scoreboard with a 4690k so essentially if I was that keen, a 4790k or more would boost my score a number of points.

You would get about the same clock for clock with a 4790k.
So we are looking at socket 2011 pretty much then?
Yes, in regards to bottlenecking. Other than that, the score isn't affected much.
Example:
Score 3746, GPU 980 @1544/2056, CPU 4790k @4.9
Score 3717, GPU 980 @1520/2000, CPU 3930k @5.0
Score 3626, GPU 980 @1504/1995, CPU 4790k @4.6
How does this happen if none of the cores is ever pushed to max though?
I've currently got my 2700k sitting at 4.4Ghz (H80 isn't performing as well as I had hoped) and none of the cores hit full pelt in Heaven, yet it clearly is impacting my score somehow.
