United States Grand Prix 2012, Austin - Race 19/20

If I was Ross Brawn I would be slipping prozac into lewis's drinks next season, when the guy is happy he is untouchable. Something martin whitmarsh never quite grasped.

Missed the race but just read on Sky that Alonso gained a place on the grid because of a non existent gearbox problem and didn't have to pass Webber or Raikkonen because of problems with their cars and/or a pitstop?

Surprised there hasn't been the same outcry that monopolised the thread after Vettel got lucky in the last race ;)

Alonso also had a problem in the pits and also had an off. Wasnt plain sailing for him either.

What Vettel got away with compared to Alonso in this race, compares to bloody murder I would say.

Loving the difficult conditions

Disappointed with lotus as it means 4th in championship

Hamilton should really have the wdc

Harder tyres please!

Might as well become a troll and talk a load of **** like most people in the formula one threads.

Vettel would have won today if he was in the Ferrari.

To be fair there was no where for the HRT to go, not like he could ask him just to get off the track.

If Vettel really deserved the win he would have gotten back past Hamilton...

Well Hamilton lost a half second to a backmarker one lap, Vettel wasn't close enough to take advantage, also the HRT wasn't holding him up for half that sequence of turns, he caught up to him pretty much right in the slowest corner anyway(so it looked worse because they were all slowing down) and he got out of the way the first chance he had.

However, Hamilton gained a huge amount EVERY sector 1 in the race, that was the Mclaren sector. Fact is he was gaining every single lap at that stage, and sure, he was helped, but it only sped up his chance to over take by a lap or two. I'm fairly sure at other stages of Hamilton chasing him Hamilton dropped back for a lap because of a back marker helping Vettel get away also.

Either way, bit lame that Davidson and no one else really highlighted that Vettel was weaving, even though a small amount, and turned towards Hamilton just as Hamilton went for the overtake, it was Vettel's fault they were so close.

Good win.... not too sure about a great race. Schumi couldn't have helped Button out more if he tried, he pushed everyone behind Alonso WAY WAY back right into Button, then Button used the clear air to do gain time before his pits. If Schumi hadn't held everyone up I don't think Button would have done as well, but the Lotus's and Massa might have been a lot closer to Alonso at the end.

Schumi was great though, that train of car's through sector 1 for the first 1/3rd of the race produces so many overtakes, kept everyone in the DRS window of the people around them, and it just looked awesome seeing 7-8 cars weave through sector 1.

Vettel got away with murder? What did he do?

Also, nobody has said anything about Massa, but finishing just behind Alonso after being pushed back down the grid is a brilliant drive. He was faster than him for a lot of the race too. He needs a decent pat on the back.

Also

Skygo is pretty good.
I really didn't think our 1-2megabits Internet would handle it
Quality is probably sub sd and sound isn't the best but it's better than £400 to pay for sky

Webber's car failed, Alonso was 4th behind Lewis after the first or second corner due to a great start... I'm not entirely convinced he wouldn't have done just as well on the other side of the track. Lewis didn't have the best start, but Kimi on the "bad" side had a fantastic start, and the Ferrari's have jumped loads of cars at almost every race this season at the start... the Ferrari's are just epic off the grid.

Agreed. It is excellent. I have Virgin 30meg and watched the whole thing at the highest bit rate (looks between sd and hdtv) and not one hitch or buffer. Flawless.

i was suprised vettel did the jink back towards hamilton in the overtake just before he passed, a risky thing to do with so much at stake for him.

What a fantastic race! Fantastic driving by lots of drivers, the Mclaren and Ferrari also had really good pace.

It was a bit iffy tonight, especially early on in the race, however when the feed is at best I think it is better than SD on normal digital TV which tends to be compressed on freeview/sat.

Hmm, i wonder if I'm one grade below you.
What are you watching on?

I'm gonna see if I can try and get some up scaling for next year lol

I had a couple of buffers but we don't get much more than 150-200KBytesps usually
Used to be 50-70KBytesps but must be better now to stream that
I did have it go pixel crazy at one point (probably when I was hitting 60KBps
Better that than buffering

Also it will allow me to catch it when out. As I'm on 3 on my mobile. Pretty nice

Vettel is so unlikeable. He spits his dummy out and whines on the radio whenever he gets overtaken.

I hope he bins it next race.
