It's the vagaries of the VSC timing.
Perez lost 2s though. How did that happen.
New hards for Verstappen 26 laps to go.
No, it wasn't: it was 2.8s before and 3.6s after. Max was at the end of the straight, Lewis lost time all the way down the straight.
Merc need to gap perez. Can't afford to get stuck behind him
Well no undercut for Lewis on the second stop, going long, 6 laps longer than planned.
Not sure about that one
Thinking fresh tire, faster on the straight, max a sitting duck towards the end.
Are Mercedes just bad at strategy from years of having to have about as much strategy as "turn up".
Need super hammertime now
What tyre is Verstappen on?
He was struggling on Hards. Hamilton might come back at him.
No point copying. Red bull faster car. Need to try something different.
Going to depend just how far back he'll have to chase him down from
Are they planning on a short stint on softs to the end?
I mean in a general sense. They have made quite a few bad decisions this season. Perhaps its no more than normal but usually they can make as many mistakes as they want and it doesn't really matter.
Another new set of hard tyres.
Merc atleast seem to have cleared the threat of Perez.
They're tyres would melt if they tried to go softs at the end and he's already losing time to Max
Mazepin lap time deleted - track limits turn 19
That would mean staying out until around lap 42 and even then, those softs could be dead at the race end.
Pit Hamilton now then imo and put on hard tyres. Hamilton was closing. He will do the same this time around, but not if he drops way behind.
Yeah never mind i'm just being thick, for some reason I thought there was a lot less laps left than there is.
