Any idea if I can update this to 2.1 and then just jailbreak it?

What SIM would you be using? Either way, you can upgrade to 2.1. If it is an 02 SIM, then you won't need to unlock, only a jailbreak is needed. If you have any other SIM then you will need to unlock too.

Would just be using o2

Oh anyway from a while back my first Iphone (one that was constantly waiting for activation) the reason it wouldn't work is because o2 had blocked the handset been refunded and now trying to get another one

Well run Quickpwn, but choose not to unlock and it will just jailbreak. Let me know how you get on.

Make sure you do a hard reset to 2.1 and then QUIT iTunes during the process.

This guide is great, but i've updated my 2G iPhone to 2.2 firmware and cant get iTunes to restore to 2.1 firmware.

So im stuck at the first step with iTunes restore

You can jailbreak and unlock the 2.2 firmware. I have now updated the guide with the files you need. Are you on Mac or Windows? I would recommend Quickpwn on either as it is a little easier.

I'm trying to open Quickpwn and I'm already stuck as when I do I get this error:

I've tried redownloading and still get same error.

In your pic, thats QuickPWN 2.2 for FW 2.2.

Have you updated to firmware 2.2 on your iPhone?

Not yet, I was just confused as it won't even open at all. Or does it open as it detects the 2.2 firmware on the phone?

When it opens, it asks you to make sure your connected via USB, then it runs a check for 2.2.. so in theory it should get that far and then relise you aint got 2.2...but I aint sure.

Either way to run/use QuickPWN 2.2 you need to have your firmware updated on your iphone to 2.2.

Or, if you currently have 2.1 on your iPhone, download the previous version of QuickPWN 2.1.

If you want to update your iPhone to 2.2, connect it to Itunes, and click check for updates, once your updated, try QuickPWN 2.2 again.

Hmm, I think updating to 2.2 removes the unlock, but I think it can be unlocked again now though.

Your best bet is to download QuickPWN 2.1, and run that, that way if it dont work (Because QuickPWN 2.1 is for FW 2.1) then you know its something else.

Hmm, I think your man to speak to on here is iSam, he seems to know a bit of his stuff... as that has baffled me...

Versions of QuickPWN I have used dont install anything, just unrar and away you go...

I've just done it, I unrared it and then extracted the exe aswell. Then it came up with the normal quickpwn logo and it went from there.

Yep all sorted, just a bit odd that I had to extract the exe (not from the rar, the exe itself) and then run the exe :confused:

Still it's all working now so no worries!
