Tefal, I think we need to abandon the plan with the Luminators around the perimeter of the farm area. I've tested out their effectiveness and they will only set fire to a mob if they occupy the block at the same level right in front of them, they have no radius of effect. At present they are on the 3rd block up such that no mob will be affected unless they jump right in from of them, they could be lowered to ground level so spiders would be included but even then it is just the single block in front.

Interdiction torches could keep mobs away but they only have an effective radius of 5 blocks and require diamonds for the recipe. At present with the wall capped the area is safe from all mob types.

We can replace the Luminators with redpower lamps which have a similar appearance but with the advantage that we can control them and also embed the jacketed redstone wires in construction foam. By using the lamps we can also colour code the lighting of various areas of the farm based on the differing crop types.

I downloaded your client at the weekend, had a play around on single player, and then got a bit overwhelmed with all the options! Far too much of a step up for someone who has just been playing vanilla for the past year!

Yeah, tried it out to no avail. Reverted back to original plan and completed all the wall lighting with their geothermal power sources. We're ready to begin the internal layout; have a you a particular selection of crops in mind?

And I know what you mean, I've only been using mods for the past two weeks and still a lot of features I haven't discovered/used.

Cheers, yeah that's me, bit stupid not to include that in my first post, sorry!

Apologies for any lag caused, I went afk at my mob spawner and energy condensers and came back to this:

They were streaking across the sky!
 
The main problem is, although you can very easily set up methods to auto kill the mobs, you only get experiance from killing them yourself... If there was a way around this people could grind the mobs constantly without issue.

Theres not too many rules tbh. If you are building on top of someone elses work then yuo're doing it wrong!
That said, bare in mind that people will have mines etc under their place, so dont build right next to them either :p
Other then that the world is free reign
