**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Ah yeah, with your back tyres you'll only get the Pilot Sport 4S. The Michelins are quite a bit more hard wearing than the Continentals, which go quiet a long was to justify the price of them, but if we're talking about dry/wet grip and feedback - I don't think there is a lot between them - both are great.

Any recommendations for tyres in 215 60 17? Don’t need anything sporty, main priority is wet grip. No budget as such, just want the best tyres possible as it’s currently got 11 year old BF Goodrich ones which don’t grip at all in the cold / wet.

Jeez there is some negativity around here :D

I have several questions:

A) why are you even looking at new tyres when yours aren't even close to being worn?
B) This aside, why would you ever replace all four?
C) Why would you take off unworn Michelin's then pay someone nearly £500 to put on four Yokohama's?!

A) Because I'm likely doing a track day next year and can swap them out
B) It's a bit too late to swap the backs and fronts around given the difference, so might as well go all 4. It's also very hard to get the tyres the 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport actually came with!
C) Because I like having all 4 the same and even if I don't do the track day, could likely sell the back 2 anyway.

Aside from wanting to do a track day, which you didn’t mention in the OP...

Why is it too late? The rears still have almost twice as much tread on them as your fronts...

Sound advice isn’t negativity.

The original tyres from "Peugeot sport" are probably not that great anyway... Stick with what you have then replace when required..

Get some rainsport 3's and be happy....

Um, they're Michelin Super Sports, and Rainsport 3's don't seem to be available in 205 40r 18 I don't think :p

Just replace the front tyres when they reach approx 3mm with another set of the factory Michelin's (under 3mm wet weather performance drops off). The Michelin Super Sports are very good tyres and will be significantly better than the mid level Yokohamas and the rear factory tyres are barely worn so would be silly to replace them. With a quick Google the Michelin's are available on the usual online sites, as you only need to change 2 it will be £150 cheaper than getting 4 Yokohamas.

If they're Pilot Super Sport (commonly referred to as PSS) they are no longer produced unless Michelin are contracted to do so for certain manufacturers (e.g. BMW). They are, however, a vastly superior tyre to Rainsports, and probably just as good as the Yokohama's you're looking at (unless you're talking AD08R) for your day to day needs, and even the AD08R will only surpass them on track, but they'll wear out a hell of a lot faster.

Michelin PS4 would be a good choice to replace PSS for your car. Move the back tyres to the front and put PS4 on the back.

Shouldn't knock something you don't use ;)

Good job I've used them then, on two different cars. Absolutely fine on an average hatchback.

A warm/hot hatch like a 208GTI there are plenty of better options

Meh dry grip
Meh steering feel
Good wet grip
Wear horrifically fast

I use them on my MPS, running 290+WHP.
Not had any issues in the dry with wheels spinning up in 2nd gear upwards.
Steering feels fine...
Very good wet grip as stated.
They do wear faster than most but are £65 per tyre...

They also offer a decent level of grip in ice and snow.

I would probably go for a nice set of PS4's next time but at £135 per tyre I don't think I want too... Can buy 4 rainsports for the price of two PS4's!

Besides it's a false economy because those PS4s probably last twice as long as the Rainsport 3 anyway.

I get more miles out of track day tyres than I did the UniRoyals
