I understand why it is recommended, but I've only ever had understeer in the wet, and thats usually a) when provoked somewhat and b) with nearly new front tyres, and rear tyres that are coming to the end of their life. Both the same tyre (Conti SC5s).
Unless you're lifting off or braking mid-corner, I suppose..
My theory is that in an FWD car the front wheels do the steering, acceleration and most of the braking, ergo they're quite important especially braking in the wet.
