**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Just put 4 AS2s on the A3 for £400 all in which wasn't too bad (225/45/17)

Had them on my WRX and feeling good so far

My rears are coming toward the levels where I usually start doing digging around into new tyres (previously I've just bought Sessantas again, twice over in fact). A few more runs up to London/Stoke and back and it should be about time.

CS5 seem to be what people are going for, I'm on Sessantas all round and in tonight's weather conditions driving home down the A3 was the first time I've driven in this kind of combination of wind + rain + sections of large water puddles on the motor/carriageway and not once did they show signs of being uneasy regardless of speed.

Given my luck with weather it seems to be mostly wet when driving long distances so my next tyre must be excellent in the wet like I've found the Sessanta to be but also in the dry. I think it's time to try something new and the Vreds are "old technology" now according to some so CS5 the ones to go for?

Quick tyre question guys. When measuring depth, is it just in the main centre channels? Does wear on the outer tread matter as such? Also at what depth would you change a tyre? I know the legal limit is 1.6mm, but would you change it long before it got to that?

I need to get some new tyres and I am not sure what to go for on the rear.

Front size is 225/45/17 and I plan to go with CS5 runflats.

Rear size is 255/40/17 but it doesn't look like I can get CS5 runflats in this size, I seem to have the following options if I want to use CS tyres:
1) CS2 runflats in the right size
2) 245/40/17 CS5 runfalts
3) 255/45/17 CS5 runflats

Can I use a different size tyre or should I stick with the CS2s?

If I can use a different size would I be better going for the 245/40/17 or 255/45/17 option?

I want to keep using runflat tyres and the car is an E90 BMW.

OK i need two new tyres, 215 55 16, a rubbish size, where anything good is expensive. Continental Premium Contacts are £105, Dunlop SportMaxx Rt are the same price. However camskill currently have the new Uniroyal Rainsport 3s at £73 each. My local tyre place want £101 each for these tyres, but will happily fit tyres for £8 each.
So would a £60 saving be worth tyring out the Uniroyals? I currently have Premium Contact 2s on the front, 5s on the rear. The fronts are the ones that need changing. Any extra advice before i order the Uniroyals?

Quick update from me. F1 AS2's fitted this morning.

Immediate thought is I need to let them bed in, but they are much, much quieter than the CS2's I had on before. Huge leap forward.

They seem a bit more, responsive/greater feel when turning in, but this was gentle stuff, nothing special at all.

Looking forward to how they feel in the next 3-500 miles once they have worn in a bit
