**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Are the tyres 225/50/17? That's a not so common size so there's less choice and higher prices. How common a tyre size is can effect the price more than size sometimes.

Black Circles do Kumhos for £99.99. Goodyear EfficientGrip Performance 2 for £114.99 with code. All seasons Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 for £120.10 with code .SAVE15.
Tyreshopper (Halfords) do Avon ZV7 for 98.99 but the Kumhos may be better?
I need to check the size. Still havent found a nice set of 18" Alloys for it. 5x114 wheels are like hens teeth in Northern Ireland or all for drif cars with crazy ET and 9J-12J width

Current try are 225/50/17 having a look online and its not a popular size. circa £100/Khumo .. Ill probably swap out for 225/45/17 as then £80/khumo so a 20% difference in price

Ended up with a pair of kumho ps72 for the rears.
Old tyres are Goodyear eagle assymetrics they been on the car since I bought the car 12 years ago still got tons of tread but starting to get cracking.
Rear tyres on a fwd seems to last forever for me

I’ve been trying to find some BMW star marked 255/35/19 Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres but am not having any luck. Does anyone know where might be best to try please?

It's like being married again and being told I'm wrong.
I know the feeling…

For anyone who’s looking at getting some Michelins, I managed to get 2 x 225/40/19 and 2 x 255/35/19 from Camskill for £620, and Michelin are doing £80 cashback at the moment. So £540 plus fitting at a local place.. a bit better than the £1k BMW quoted me (it was already there for a service, hence the quote!).

anyone wants F1A5 225/40/19 (fronts) and F1A6 255/35/19 (rears) which were bought about 10 months ago
matched sets and only lightly used for ~3k miles before i chopped in my 440i

After much deliberation decided to go with Continental SC7s again.
4 fitted with the usual "extras" charges such as disposal, etc came to £565 fitted which I don't think was too bad.

This might be a silly question, but if any tyre fitters are on here...can you change a tyre with the wheel off the car, if it has TPMS sensors fitted? They don't need to be refitted and recoded to the car do, they?

Reason I ask is, I found a bulge in a rear sidewall of the girlfriends car earlier. I've booked in a replacement (pair) at a local tyre place which is probably a mile away at most, with a short stretch of 50mph DC. But I'm not sure it worth the risk driving it as the bulge is pretty big...

Im thinking I'll err on the side of caution and try to fit the wheels in the back of my car and take them down.

What a pain in the arse. We own a car that has a full size spare for 5 years with no issues. Less than 6 months with a new car which only came with a can of goo, and this happens :/ Double pain is that I can't find the same tyre (Toyo, but I'm not sure which one), so I've elected to replace both with Cross Climates. We'd planned of moving to these eventually anyway, but I was hoping to not have to do it so soon.

still expensive compared to costco.

Black circles are absolute rubbish now. Was always the go to place for me for around a decade and they were the true pioneers of online tyre purchasing but they have gotten too big now and so have their prices.

I have bought my last two sets from F1Autocentre as they were cheapest outside of Costco. Both the CSC7 for my car and GYA6 for my daughters. Just keep a look out for the discounts.
