'Unsigned/Unknown Bands'

I listen to a podcast called Bands Under the Radar by an American lady named Kami Knake. It features about 30 or so songs when it comes out, with most of them being unknown artists. Some of the music is excellent.

I'll look for this and check it out - any recognizeable ones that are now out there that have been on?

Cheers.

Cheers for the email bucket! Didn't realise you were in a band too!

Get some links up :D Just had an overhaul of the website tonight as we decided on our branding the other day just had to get it onto the site.

Keep in radio contact! One thing I will say to avoid getting too far OT is that there is a band you should deffo look out for in Plymouth when they get back together again who are mates of ours........Raw Messiah! They Rock! http://www.twothirteen.net/Reluctoe.mp3

Yeah they are signed to Columbia I think.

But they are rather unknown, sorry, i'll make that more clear in the OP.

What did you think of them anyway?

Love them, I think I came across them on Pitchfork or when thumbing through NME, can't remember which. Love the sound - reminds me slightly of the Animal Collective, although side by side they are worlds apart, they have there similarities.

Its all about having the time though :(

We practice in all of our spare time pretty much as we all work full time in the week...just chasing for the dream man lol! Would be wicked to just jam all week when we wanted.

Goodman - loving them myself also.

I saw them at Hard Rock Calling this year - they were great - if a bit static on stage! The singer is an quired taste I think, a lot of people I know don't like it.

Have you heard Golden Silvers?

EDIT: Yup Jegz, all true. Currently I am free every day apart from the weekend, and for the other people I play with, it's the opposite!

Been a fan of them for years (used to go by the name KiDDO) they've supported Little Man Tate (RIP) and also joined the Dirty Pretty Things in London after being nominated for the final 4 out of 1000s of bands for the Red Stripe music awards, which someone called Klaus Says Buy the Record won.

I've heard of these guys, not checked them out though, cheers.

And yeah, Klaus was also on Orange Unsigned Act.

One of the "local" bands I've seen LOADS of times. I think are amazing. Unsigned but they produced their own album :D

New Cassettes

I can't link a myspace from work. But crack the name in the search they should be the top one. Northampton Based.

Keep them coming, there are some cracking suggestions above :)

You've managed to remind me again about the Joy Formidable and I'll think I will be getting the Martin Harley CD. I have the rest on a list to listen to and will do so when I get a few mins.

I really like a band called Brenda, bad name, but awesome music, the singer sounds like Jeff Buckley and they have a Mogwai-esque sound. :)

Saw them a few years ago and im still not sure that they've signed.

Try the song "Blueprints", it's awesome!

We played a gig with Brenda a while ago. Stunning band live. I like the "songsketchdemo08" on their profile...about 4mins in. Lovely riff :)

The Rivers

Love their songs.

EDIT: Just searched to see if they had recently been signed or anything like that and found out that "This band is no longer active. It may have split up or changed its name". Shame. :(

EDIT2: Appears they are now called 'More Than Thieves'. :/
